I had an extraordinary experience at Sta. Every plate of the seven course dinner was very well-executed, from the three vegetable opener to the squid, the gyoza, and the onigiri and soup course were great. The egg custard was a new dish for me, and I thought it was phenomenal. I selected the mackerel as my entree, and it was superlative, to include the cold tomato relish. The I would also like to note the incredible service. I was tired from being on my feet all day and uncomfortable at the bar seat, but chose not to mention it. Lunch at 12 sharp? Sure, why not – and clearly, everyone else had the same idea because the place was packed! And for good reason: the food, service, and atmosphere were fantastic. I was so impressed, I thought, “Why not come back for dinner?”

Well, let’s just say that dinner didn’t quite live up to the morning hype. The restaurant was practically a ghost town, and I figured the Salisbury steak would be a safe bet. Big mistake. If you’re thinking of ordering it, take my advice. Don’t. Just don’t. Also, the dinner pricing is much higher cost.

I got the meat lunch set. The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was nice. The food was pretty average. I wish it had more flavor. I did like the sauce on the carrots though. The miso soup was good. I enjoyed that. However the chicken, in my opninion needed salt. If I go back I’ll explore different options on the menu, it looks to have some other items that sounded good.

I ordered a coffee and it was from a coffee machine that keeps the coffee hot and ready. It isn’t made to order.
