I was really surprised with how cozy this cafe was ð§ââïž
My bus usually passes by Cafe in the House on the way to Shinjuku so I'm glad I was finally able to visit. Upon entering the cafe, I was very impressed with the old school interior and decor. You can also find different (very cute) chocolates with dogs on the wrapper, teas, and coffee beans for sale. Besides this, they also have imported tea cups you can buy as a souvenir! They also have a projector that plays old b&w films with Japanese subtitles.
I ordered an iced chai latte and an apple pie ala mode. The chai was just alright, I felt that the milk kind of overpowered the chai and it lacked the spice I was looking for ð« However, it's still one of the better chais I've tasted in Japan because it wasn't that sweet. The apple pie was also just alright ð Important to note that the apple pie has a custard filling inside. I personally don't really like custard so that's why I found the apple pie to be just okay. Unfortunately, I don't remember what kind of chocolate I bought but it was very good! Definitely made of high quality cacao beans ð I would definitely want to buy the whole box not only because of the delicious taste but also because each type of chocolate comes with a different super duper cute drawing of a dog ð¥º
Overall, although the food and drinks were mid, I see myself coming back here because of the cozy atmosphere. They also have free wifi so I can imagine many people from Waseda University and language schools at Takadanobaba come here to study ð«¡
Cafe in the House kindly requests that guests don't take too much photos and videos inside so do keep that in mind when you visit ð Also, you need to secure a seat first before ordering and take note of the number pasted on your table. The staff will ask what table number you're seated in and bring your order to you once...
