Summary before my actual notes: Cafe Legato has the capability of being a high-end, top-tier restaurant. They know their clientele, though, and are catering to them. However, even if a business wants to attract a younger, less uptight crowd, service can never be the detriment. Birthday celebrations, DJ's with announcements and staff that ring bells are fine and all, but service has room to improve.
Service at bar offered. Seat was prepared. Ambiance is chic yet still old-school Italian low light. 15th floor view is definitely part of the attraction. Clientele is overall young. Music is louder than background, some patrons refer to it as great dj music. Service is painfully green, raw, and young. Pricing is rather fair. Open kitchen is always an interesting touch, although not new. The restaurant combines youthfulness and effervescence with above average tasting food and a locale with a respected, known environment from an older time. Service is slow. Close to nonexistent Extremely poor situational awareness from staff. Total time to initial service: 24 minutes. Unsatisfactory. Food service time is average across the board. Order Homemade Moscow Mule [ ]   Citrus to the smell [ ] Impressive ginger Ale [ ] Light on the vodka Avocado Caprese [ ] Small portion for 1800 yen [ ] Fine vinegrette [ ] Not enough from the avocado and strawberries were different [ ] Saved by the mozzarella though Black Pepper Italian Sausage [ ] Well presented [ ] Good moisture and cook. Taste is accurate with name. [ ] Sauce is VERY Tart with a surprising tang. Carbonara [ ] Sauce is made properly. Egg is mixed correctly. [ ] Well priced with portion and taste. [ ] Great color. Risotto with Iberico Bacon, Maximum Egg, and Truffle [ ] Very good consistency [ ] Truffle coming out in good proportion [ ] Egg added to it, but it was already doing well before it. Grilled Fruits Brandy Highball [ ] Refreshing [ ] Tart with the fruit. Not too much highball bite. Manhattan [ ] Below Average [ ] Took over 15 minutes. Ordered Canadian Club. Not given. Legato Tarte Tatin [ ] Desert well done. [ ] Encompasses the different sweet sides...
Read moreHad called up the place before going, got to know that bookings were full for Sunday night but they still told we can be accommodated if we wouldn't mind waiting for some time. It was on the occasion of my daughter's birthday and we decided to take a chance as she wanted to go here..Turned out to be a good decision that we went and waited!
They offered to seat us in a larger table on shared basis but we decided to wait for a private table. About 30 mins after we reached they seated us in a comfy semicircle sofa table. A nice view of Shibuya night skyline, the food with multiple vegetarian options, relaxed atmosphere with good music and the fact that it's open till very late made it all the more enjoyable.
In appetizers the spicy fries were crispy and seasoned perfectly. Gnocchi with truffle sauce was amazing, we got sourdough bread to go with it and made good use of the sauce as well. In the main course 1. The tomato and basil spaghetti with burrata had excellent balance of flavors and nice chewy pasta 2. Parmesan risotto with truffles was heavenly 3. Truffle pizza was nice though with a slight sweetness that was unexpected. We got decent portion sizes for all appetizers and mains.
We had wanted to get their signature baked Alaska for dessert to celebrate but turned out that it's in limited quantity and was sold out for the night. We were given an option of a dessert plate with a custom message instead, with a prep time of 30 mins. We got it and it was very nicely made!!
All in all a very nice experience and my kid enjoyed the whole spread. Was a memorable evening for us,...
Read moreNormally I would not recommend to seek out european cuisine in a foreign country, but Cafè Legato was an unbelievably good experience. It is pretty much a rooftop skybar restaurant with the most beautiful view across Tokyo, and after a little while they pulled away some massive drapes to show the sights all the way around almost like the Tokyo SkyTree đâ¤ď¸
On top of that, the aesthetics were so beautiful and the atmosphere incredibly pleasing & relaxing. The service was also some of the best service ive ever had, every waiter was so up close and personal, and they were all incrediblg kind and smiled practically every minute of the night đ¤
Also most importantly, the food was incredible and served very fine-dining-style, which was such a refreshing surprise. They had a varied selection of delicious italian pastas and pizzas and cheeses, all very tasteful and every dish was arranged very elegantly. Also their drinks !! Their drinks were also delicious and a wide selection of drinks to choose from đ§đšđĽ
The price-range was also surprisingly cheap, especially for being such a fine-dining establishment in such a lovely location. I can definitely recommend going here, both as a tourist or a local, it seemed to be very welcoming to any type of person â¤ď¸
Important note though ! If you want the tables with beautiful sky-view, then remember to reserve a...
