Let me first start off by saying what an incredible experience dining at Cedros Tokyo was.
Arrival:
We just flew into Tokyo from CA for my wife’s birthday with our family and a few friends and had a reservation for dinner at 6pm that evening. As we arrived, the restaurant was tucked away into a small quaint courtyard on the back streets of Daikanyama. We were greeted by the Cedros team in a small dimly lit and stylish interior–It felt elegant and casual at the same time. We were the only ones in the restaurant and the Cedros team was ready and waiting for us. It was a very personal experience. We were sat down, offered drinks and our Omakase course menu was nicely displayed in front of us. We had small conversation with the team as we settled in. We communicated that one of our local guest would be running a few minutes behind. They said no problem at all and we will take care of them when they arrive. We waited for a for about 30 minutes and decided we would start. They reinforced us not to worry and that they would take care of our friend when she arrived.
The food:
We had an 8 course Omakse that was outstanding. One of our guest does not eat seafood or anything raw. We communicated this in advance and Cedros made customized accommodations for him. To his delight he LOVED it all and said it changed his view. A few highlights. The first course, an Uni crustini was phenomenal. Melt in your mouth with tons of flavor. The Ceaser Crab sale was clean, refreshing and flavorful. The ceviche dish was good. The lobster risotto was the highlight of the evening. Every single one of us had a smile on our face after this dish. Our eyes wide open, each looking at each other judging reactions. It was all the same. Head nodding in satisfaction. We finished off the meal with a mango panacotta that was delightful.
The service:
The service was attentive and detailed. We had a great experience. Our friend arrived almost an hour after our reservation time due to some unforeseen circumstances and they were ready when she arrived. Serving her immediately, without delay and with a smile on their face. We are greatly appreciative of the detail and accommodations that Cedros offered us even considering the delay in arrival of our guest and menu accommodations. The timing of our service was sync’d so well that as soon as our late arrival friend received her dessert the Cedros team had my wife’s birthday dessert ready as well.
Overview:
Food was outstanding. Service was outstanding. We will be back the next time we...
Read moretucked away in a corner of Daikanyama is one of Tokyo's best restaurant that effortlessly combine California-inspired pacific seafood with Japanese best of class ingredients. (note they just reopened after renovation at the start of June 2023).
this restaurant is featured in trip advisor's top-10 best restaurants in Tokyo, but man, the google ratings and reviews give it no justice. went here last night for the first time with my wife to celebrate her bday and was hugely impressed by the ambiance, the friendliness of the staff, and of course the food. its seafood fusion in all the best ways. hands down one of the best seafood restaurants in Tokyo.
the brothers who own and run this place are laid back and really approachable.. they grew up in SoCal before moving back to Tokyo to bring a taste of California to Japan. it's a killer story that you can ask them about, which makes for an interesting conversation while you're dining.
there's 2 different set courses (at least for now) and it's fairly priced -- we chose the 7-course set with 3 standouts: the seared Tuna Tostada with mango jalapeno sauce, the soft shell crab tempura with cucumber pineapple mint sauce and their lobster truffle risotto (signature dish)! each subsequent plate topped the one before it seemed..
needless to say I'll be back and highly recommend for you to check this out before there's a large wait -- it's a...
Read moreCedros Tokyo is a mandatory dining experience during while you are in Tokyo. The food, the atmosphere and the service made you feel right at home with every dish made with love and bursting with just the right amount of flavor. I had the pleasure of being seated by the Chef’s corner and the staff is as stellar as the food. It was my best meal throughout my entire stay and I will be back every time I visit Tokyo.
Chef Craig even accommodated my nut allergies to allow me to try another sweet treat on the menu and it did not disappoint. It was a light slice of heaven, like tiramisu meets cheesecake.
I recommend the Cedros Signature Chefs Tasting Menu, it allowed me to try the best of what they have to offer without feeling overstuffed and left room for me to eat two desserts with plenty of wine. They also have a sister bar, the Cabin Nakameguro, a 10 minute walk away. With an excellent mezcal espresso martini and same good vibes.
This is a hidden gem, tucked away from the hustle and crowds of Shibuya. I highly recommend you add it to your list of places to eat. I am still dreaming about that soft crab and the seared ahi tuna steak. Until we...
