Detective Cafe “Progress” — Restaurant in Tokyo

Probably the biggest letdown in our Tokyo experience. For a themed bar, it's just so average. They have a few guns on the walls, and are screening an epiosde of US reality show Cheaters, and they offer a menu of things like fingerprinting etc, which are only available if the bar isn't too busy. They have a table charge of 1,000¥, plus you are expected to order food, none of which looked delish. The whole place is incredibly cheesy and cheap. I'd go as far as to say it's creepy. We read online that the staff spoke english as well, and part of the appeal was to chat to a detective about local investigations and their work, but their English was poor to non-existent, so if you dont speak Japanese it's not for you. If you're not already in Ikebukuro, it's definitely not worth making the trek there. But if you are there, the cocktail was merely okay. Considering the non negotiable table charge and not-listed taxes, it was 3,780¥ for two cocktails. And they were kind enough to not force us to order the food, even though the menu was aggressively clear that all people should have one dish. 1,000¥ for...

I was so excited about this. Such a cool concept. The reality was awful. Overpriced cover charge, overpriced drinks, inattentive bartenders. We ordered sake and they brought us a lukewarm bottle and glasses of ice. We ordered a $9 grilled cheese and they brought us slices of cheese that had been grilled, as in it was literally just grilled cheese, which was actually pretty good but overpriced for a tiny bar snack. There are detective activities on the menu that you can pay extra for. Could have been fun but the bartenders didn’t care at all so it was just a waste of time. 🍸背景のディスプレイやグッズ、マドラーといった装飾の豪華さにびっくりでした。カクテルの説明も作品を丁寧に解釈してくれている印象です。味も美味しく、作品とキャラクターの要素が詰め込まれた素敵なカクテルでした。一杯はお高めですがその分満足度も高いです。 ※モチーフが版権モノなので念の為、写真ではグッズ等ぼかしています。 ※キャラクターカクテルの注文は1週間以上前の予約、事前のオーダー送信が必要でした。またカクテルの価格はお会計の時に分かるので、お財布に余裕を持ってのオーダーがおすすめです。

🍚ランチタイムでしたので、ワニタン炙り丼セット(コーヒーor紅茶がセット)も注文。ワニのタンは初めて食べましたが、ホルモンのような味わいで美味しかったです。他にもフードメニューが沢山あり、バータイムも楽しめます。
