I stumbled upon this micro brewery and restaurant completely by chance when I was out photographing. It doesn't look much from the outside, just your typical 'lunch special' type place, the kind of place you might go on a date, or where middle-class housewives dress up to go for lunch; the menu board also didn't look that special. Anyway the staff were very friendly and so I decided to give it a go. I sat outside in the shade of the railway bridge and ate their chicken lunch (1000円) with a large glass of their most recent seasonal brew. Firstly, the small soup arrived and it wasn't up-to much, but then the beer arrived. Wow! The fruity IPA that I ordered was SUBLIME, one of the best pulled pints I have ever drunk. It was so zesty, fresh and clean with just enough hops to give it some edge; perfect for a hot July day in central Tokyo. The food then arrived and I was extremely pleasantly surprised there too. The volume was excellent, as was their presentation; the chicken was freshly grilled to boot. As for the taste, again, (beer aside), this is one of the top five meals I have eaten in Japan in over 20 years, it was THAT good. I can imagine this place gets packed at night, but if you venture there at lunchtime I think you'll find a table, especially if you sit outside. I heartily recommend you visit here and try one of their ales too; I cannot imagine anyone being...
Read moreDeserves a 0 star.....Didnt even reach the point of trying the beer because of the extremely horrific rigid service. We took almost 1 hour to get to the bar. I was initially so excited to be there to try far yeast as I heard so many good things.
However, when we got there, the host was nowhere to be found. The bar counter was half empty with 2 reservation signs for later. I totally understand walking into a supposedly full house. Therefore I told him that we come a very long way to just try the beers. I even offered to stand to one corner or even outside just so I could try the beers. I promised the host to return the table to him within 15 mins. However, when we were about to order the flight, he told us that we could only order the limited beers as well as he slapped us with a minimum drink per person. I understand if you need to charge us a minimum drink per person if we had a proper table and chairs to sit for at least a proper drink of at least 30mins. The way he handled us was totally atrocious for Japanese hospitality.
Throughly disappointed as the bar was also claustrophobic and the exact opposite of what its shown in the google photos.
All in all poor service, poor ambience, hence...
Read moreI have been to Far Yeast Brewing company about 4 or 5 times now and feel I can give it my honest review. The location is very convenient and easy to get to from Gotanda JR train station. It is a great place to stop when taking a walk along the Meguro river. The space is nice, cool and modern with plenty of seats to accommodate one or a small group. The beer is technically good, fresh, cold and served properly. If there is any criticism which is purely from my own taste and opinion is to have a little more diversity in the beer offerings. I do understand it is hard to be everything to everyone, but a few less Hazy options in the ales would be nice. The food was nice and portions seemed to be good. The staff were relatively nice however did not seems too knowledgeable about beer. Often the server needed to ask a brewery or some other staff about more details about the beer. This is not a big issue, but would expect brewery staff to know details for the beer. I do recommend you try this place and I will continue to drink beer here as it is a stop on my Meguro...
