The different flavoured fried chicken is delicious! Service was very patient and helpful. One of the best meals in Tokyo!
Had to make a return visit before leaving Tokyo and it still easily ranks as a favourite! Tried a spicy chicken this time (as well as the breast/thigh mixed set) and it was just as delicious. Definitely worth the visit - cannot wait to return again. Thank you!
Here in Tokyo again and this time came with friends for dinner. Slightly different menu but still just as delicious - even better than I remember it! Best place for fried chicken - hands down!
Cannot praise Ichiban Karaage enough - still THE place for fried chicken (best I've had without exception and I've had a lot). We dined-in and also bought take-out including a variety of dishes. Favourites include the signature garlic fried chicken (thigh meat), signature ginger fried chicken (breast meat) and the spicy fried chicken wings.
New updated menu - exploding with flavour is the new "Garlic Back Fat Chicken Set Meal". Accompanied by a mountain of cooked veggies, this was a lovely addition.
Also new to the menu is the curry chicken pieces. Bite-sized pieces of fragrant spiced chicken. Delicious.
All the usual favourite menu items are still there with one exception - the garlic french fries have been deleted (tragedy). Still simply the best fried chicken anywhere in the world!
Another new dish - soupless soba. Another tasty addition. Thank you so much always for the delicious food!
Each visit always feels like coming home! Food remain...
Read moreVery crispy and juicy karaage (Japanese fried chicken)!
This restaurant offers dine-in or takeout. One staff member spoke English well, while the others made heartfelt attempts to communicate with me while I used Google translate.
The menu (which I’ve photographed) has the English translations for all of the dishes. Everything is very affordable, with the majority being under 1,000 JPY.
One set is gluten-free (GF). It is the salty fried chicken thighs. It was so delicious & I’m glad I ordered an extra order of chicken only for the next morning (breakfast of champions).
The salty fried chicken breast does contain a small amount of gluten per the owner.
My family and friends, who do not have dietary / allergen restrictions, really enjoyed the salty fried chicken breasts and spicy sauce thighs.
The rice was perfect, nice shredded cabbage with Japanese mayonnaise, and dollop of potato salad are in the set.
Highly recommended if you are visiting Sunshine City and crave...
Read moreWow, I don't even know where to start! My mom and I found this place after walking around Tokyo all day (5/8), and we are glad we did not miss this little hidden gem. I have had karaage in the states (America) and as a side at other restaurants but this experience made me appreciate it even more. I can tell the craft has been perfected to live up to the #1 name
My highlights: -chicken was fried and cooked to perfection (not at all greasy for a deep fried food) -miso-shiru (best I have had any where) -ponzu-radish dipping sauce
The restaurant/shop was very charming and cozy without feeling too stuffy. I appreciate being able to see who creates our meals when eating out. The the staff and owner (I think he was cooking tonight) seemed like a unique little family and were very accommodating to our broken Japanese. Again, happy to have found this place on the last full day of my first trip to Japan.
Thank...
