Not for coffee enthusiasts. Atmosphere and experience are great, but be warned the coffee is not worth the high price. They have all the single origin beans you'd expect from a good coffee shop: Kenya, Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia and so on. I ordered the daily roast, Columbia, for 780 yen! That is more than Horiguchi and Hoshino. My expectation was high.
The taste was disappointing to say the least - burnt to a crisp, acrid, and gave me a headache. I had to ask the staff what happened... was shocked to find out they French Roast every bean. Meaning they burn it to a crisp, removing all flavor and complexity from the beans. Normally I wouldn't bother writing a review and would simply not go back. When I am staying in Kita Senju, I often stop by mid afternoon for refreshment and to rest for a while. The shop is cleverly decorated and the staff are friendly and adept at coffee preparation.
