MAT COFFEE — Restaurant in Tokyo

I came for lunch on a Saturday when it was moderately busy. There were like 3 empty seats as well as the outdoor seats available. I saw someone with their dog outside so pets seem to be welcome there. It's a pretty small space inside but they did a good job at fitting in some table seats and bar seats.

Service was a bit pushy? I had a sling bag and two full tote bags and was going to put them down at an empty seat before ordering but the server was very adamant that I come up to the register first, even when I explained that I just wanted to put my stuff down. There wasn't much space for my bags at the register so I had to put them on the floor (ew), so I could get my wallet out and pay.

Anyway, the food was really good. I liked the French fries and the rest of the menu looked right up my alley. The decor and music was very Americana so it was a good vibe overall.

Great find in Ebisu area! I wanted to go to the popular cafes nearby, but because they were full I chose to come to MAT coffee and it didn’t disappoint me at all! I ordered Ice Maple Latte and it’s very tasty, they have only 1 size, which is so big!! Makes a coffee totally worth to buy. (580 yen) The coffee taste is rich and well balanced with the sweetness of maple syrup. The place reminds me of a bar/diner in the U.S. atmosphere is cool and hype. I enjoy my time here. Food looks great! Next time I want to come and try the hot dog and carrot cake. 😃👌🏼 Also it seems a live band comes and play some rock l at some point...

As I’m making the order and inquiring about the options, the male owner was already showing rudeness in his customer service. What made it worse is that the cafe was absolutely empty inside yet the male owner was instructing me where I’m allowed to sit and where I can place my coat. It came to the point where he could see my disappointment so without giving me a choice he placed my cash payment on to the table and in the Japanese “indirect way” asked us to leave. Never in my life have I ever experienced such service at a F&B...
