Monmouth Tea — Restaurant in Tokyo

This place holds a special place in my heart. 11 years ago (2007) I lived in the nearby Sakura House (gaijin house). The first day of my stay I decided to shop a bit, became lost of course and one of the places I asked for directions was this place. The old man standing there said jokingly: "My daughter is studying English, if you speak English with her while she helps you, I'll allow it." I of course say yes and she helps me the best she can to locate my dorm on a map, but to no avail. Fortunately since I was just a big dumbo I was just going in circles and the dorm was like 300m further up the street.

Going back to Tokyo I knew I had to find that place again, just to see it. After going there and telling them of my experience I learn that the girl that helped me that day is right now living in New York and has a family there. That is so awesome.

To end my visit I had the same ice milk tea and it was delicious. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to...

Delicious sweetened black milk tea. The tea is strong in flavor and enriched with milk and sugar. For someone who never adds sugar to my coffee or tea, it’s definitely on the sweet side. But it’s not as sweet as sugary Starbucks drink or soda, so it was somewhat tolerable. You can’t make any changes or modifications to the drink. Since this is a black milk tea specialty store, the menu only consists of black milk tea (cold, hot, with whip cream, without whip cream…).

I wish they had a less sweet option. If they reduced the sugar a bit, it’d be perfect.

Service is very fast, you’ll be in and out in minutes...

I accidently came upon this tea shop during my trip in 2017. I still think about this milk tea from time to time. It is the best milk tea I have every tasted. I can't wait to go back and visit it again one day. It's a must try if you love milk tea.

My husband who didn't care for milk tea didn't order a cup for himself. He tried it a bunch of time in the US and didn't like it. He took a sip of my cup and it changed his perspective completely. The jerk then proceeded to steal my tea. I regretted not...
