They replaced the payment process from a human-to-human transaction to a machine transaction. Their new register machines don't accept more than 21 coins for a single purchase. Made in Japan. They replace staff by machines, and you cannot even use the number of coins you want to pay with. I had more than 21 coins, and their super smart staff couldn't find anything to say but, "oh, then, you cannot pay". I insisted, I have enough cash so find a way to accept my payment e.g., change my coins to notes. Even though they had a cash register at the service counter, they didn't want to bother and preferred to give me my cash back in coins. Never saw that before in my life: having enough cash to pay for your merchandise, but being refused a cash payment at a supermarket because you have too many coins for the taste of their register machines. And even though they could have exchanged my coins for notes and proceed to the purchase, they just preferred to stick to their stupid rules, up to the point where they even called the cops for that matter. I left before the cops came because I have better things to do; but yes, that's how they treat customers at OK Mart. Their moronic behavior doesn't stop here: the machine gave back a note from my coins. Still, they preferred to change it back to proceed to my...
Read moreProbably the best grocery store in this entire area in terms of product and produce. I am quite conflicted to give this place 4 stars, but as this is the only place with such a wide variety of selection I'll make an exception. Great produce, tons of fish and meat, vegetables are not so much. But good prices - neither cheap or expensive. I would give this 2 stars, because of the layout. It is horrible! Three floors, two elevators, but one is only for staff and the other does not stop at the ground floor. Extremely confusing. There is a specific route for each floor, also confusing, but if there aren't many people and you're a regular...you'll get used to it. Staff is unfriendly and always seem annoyed or rushed. Grocery bags cost 4 yen if I remember correctly. This is definitely not handicap or baby friendly as the layout is confusing to navigate especially because of the narrow space. But that being said, they have a great selection. There is also a good bakery section near the...
Read moreVery well priced supermarket. Structure of the store is a bit weird - first you take the escalator to 2F, which contains fresh fruit, fish and meat. Then you take an elevator to B1F which has frozen goods, dairy/breakfast items, pantry items. Then you take the escalator up to 1F which contains bentos as well as the checkout.
Discount time period for bentos is between 7pm and 8:30 pm ranging from 10-30% discount during that period. Personally would recommend coming around 7:30pm. Wagyu is discounted on expiry day (30%) and is restocked roughly every 3 days (as they have an 'expiry period' of 3 days) - perfect if you want a premium cut of beef and are living close to the...
