On a very warm June day, I wandered in to Mosuke after venturing through the culinary ware area of Asakusa. I was looking for a good okonomiyaki and saw some shining reviews. It was busy when I arrived, but luckily there were a few open tables. I was given an English menu while I waited for the table to be ready. I ate upstairs in a slightly smaller space. My server, Shimamom, was friendly and very helpful. I used my limited Japanese to order and he used his much better English to explain the deal. He prepped us on the equipment (the cooktop, tiny spatulas and chopsticks) and once the food came, he explained the process of preparing it as he prepared it in front of us. It was lovely. I had the kimchi pork monja and the volumnous okonomiyaki. But were amazingly delicious and well prepared. There was a lot of food, too. No need for appetizers with this order for two people. Shimamom was so nice, I wanted to order more food just to continue the experience, but I was so full. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for okonomiyaki or monja in the Asakusa area.

What a fantastic place. This was our 2nd time we had okonomiyaki in Japan in the 2 weeks we have been here and i had to come back before we leave Japan. The first time it was so good no other okonomiyaki compared even in Hiroshima and we had to come back. Shima prepared today's meal and it was perfection. I had the voluminous okonomiyaki and my friend had the seafood one, and both were so good. 👌 this was def my favorite meal in Japan and in fact from all my travels all over the world these past years. THANK YOU SHIMA for the lovely service, for your amazing cooking. I want to come back to Japan to eat here again. The staff are friendly and even remembered us from the last time. Highly recommend , and if you are lucky to get Shima to cook your okonomiyaki you won't be disappointed.

Came across this place by chance when walking around Asakusa for dinner. Decided to give it a shot and was pleasantly surprised! The service was excellent and the staff were very kind and accommodating to us as foreigners. We started off with grilled squid, which tasted so fresh. It was cooked perfectly by the staff, right in front of us. We ordered their #1 recommended monjayaki with cheese and it was delicious! A well-balance savory dish with similar texture to fluffy scrambled egg. This is one of those dishes that tastes better with time as it continued to cook on the grill while eating it. Finished off with a classic okonomiyaki. The perfect was to end the meal

Monja mentaiko w/ shiso (add pork belly) was fantastic, was Yu’s first time making it. He also spoke English and was extremely friendly. The table service charge included octopus legs on the griddle w/ butter and soy. Highly recommend for an authentic feel. No English menu at all and most didn’t speak English so bring your google translator to make it easier on yourself. First time having Monja and might not be my last. Thank you Yu! FYI, if you’re over 5’10 and have legs longer than 30” you might experience a bit of discomfort in this quaint little local spot.

Great food and huge portions! We had randomly walked passed this place and decided to walk in as it looked very cute. The restaurant is beautiful inside and it is definitely an experience. We had okomiyaki, both seafood and port version and both were amazing! I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to try traditional food. Take took amazing care of us! He is a super hardworking employee and it was a pleasure.

Great food and excellent service by Shimamon. Shimamon was welcoming, friendly and cheerful despite running a one man show; serving multiple tables and tending the cashier all at the same time. He patiently explained to us the best way to enjoy each dish. Delicious Monjayaki, definitely a must try if you are in Asakusa. Thank you Shimamon for the amazing experience!
