It's my first time in the area, and it took a while to finally select this fine establishment for my dinner.
I called an original monjayaki (ingredients similar to okonomiyaki), but wet (runny).
The location of this eatery was at the junction. I was seated at the ground floor facing an open window, which allowed cool air (yes, summer is over) to enter.
There is an English menu available for foreigners (not sure if other foreign language menus are available). Some of the staff are able to communicate in a fair bit of English.
The eateries in this area seem to have a cover charge for the tables used (between ¥250 to ¥350), but for this eatery, there is a charge for an appetizer (butter grilled tako tentacles in sause).
They also offer cold beverages, including alcoholic ones. I ended up ordering two glasses due to the long wait (inevitable, as it's popular).

Read moreI recently had an incredible dining experience at Asakusa Monja Kanoya a Japanese restaurant where you cook your own food right at the table. The concept itself was unique and interactive, allowing us to engage with the cooking process while enjoying top-quality ingredients. The variety of meats, seafood, and vegetables offered something for everyone, and everything was fresh and flavorful.

Read moreWe had a wonderful experience at Asakusa Monja Kanoya Hanare on April 26, 2025, and a big part of that was thanks to Hina, our wonderful server. She was incredibly accommodating and helpful, taking the time to walk us through the menu and showing us how to enjoy monjayaki properly—even cooking it for us at the table with great care and attention.
Hina’s warm and friendly personality made us feel truly welcome. She chatted with us about the local area and culture, which added a personal and memorable touch to our meal. It felt more like being hosted by a friend than just dining out.
We also really appreciated the kind and attentive hospitality of her boss, who made sure everything was perfect and added to the warm, welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant.
If you’re in Asakusa, don’t miss this spot—not just for the delicious food, but for the genuine hospitality that Hina, her boss, and the whole...
