The store is located under the elevated Yamanote Line and has a narrow Kido entrance.
As the name [Mumei] suggests, it is a rustic restaurant with only [Noodles] written on the noren.
■There are two menu choices: [Aged Soy Sauce Ramen (850 yen including tax)] and [Salt Ramen (900 yen including tax)].
I'm so happy that the average and large servings are the same price!
Also [Four types of seafood tsukemen] will be discontinued for the time being.Sorry. From the store owner
■ It's a pretty small shop with only 6 seats at the counter, so be sure to look around. Priority is given to those who return. This is a shop where a spirit of compromise is important.
■As a courtesy from the store owner, paper aprons are provided. This store is friendly to office workers and women.
■ As usual, I received a large serving of Aged Neri Soy Sauce Ramen (850 yen including tax).
As for the soup, as it says on the ticket vending machine, the base is quite bland, so mix it with aged soy sauce before eating. If you don't do that, you won't know what you're eating at all (lol)
The noodles are medium-thick flat curly noodles. The chicken base + fat (plus seafood powder such as dried sardines) is a little stronger than the taste, so you'll be eating each bite. As a result, I think the opinions will be divided because the power will make you say, ``It's delicious,'' but the people who like it will definitely enjoy it.
■ I don't know why the [Four Types of Seafood Tsukemen] has stopped being provided. Next, I'll have salt ramen...
Read moreBest ramen I've ever had! Stumbled upon this after looking at reviews here after getting fed up of waiting for a spot for the Kikanbo. Hole in a wall, 6 seats, no English and a machine you order ramen on. You only have 2 choices, soy sauce, and salt and truffle. I was skeptical but once the first spoonful of broth hit my tongue, after spending half the day in the cold rain I knew this ramen had changed what I thought ramen should taste like. Thick creamy broth, soft but firm noodles and delicious chashu. This place is a little hard to find because Google maps freaks out in this area. Maybe...
Read moreI was staying in the area and after trying Kikanbo, I decided to try another highly rated ramen on tabelog, Mumei. I got the chicken shio which is the most visually stunning with a topping of salad greens. The broth was thicker than I was expecting, with notes of a mirepoix. The noodles were also unorthodox, being flat and thick (more akin to a Chinese flat noodle or linguini) but tasty nevertheless as a vehicle for that sublime broth. What a unique and sublime bowl of ramen for 900¥. Didn't get to try the tsukemen but seems like most shops are offering tsukemen...
