Nishishinjuku Eigetsu — Restaurant in Tokyo

This really feels like you are sat in someone’s house on a quiet Japanese street.

We came around 9:30pm on a Monday no reservation required it was just us. Had English menu’s. Staff were super kind and tried to communicate with us on translate. The set meal actually comes with rice and miso soup (wasn’t obvious on the English menu, so I tried to order them separately at first). You pick two categories sashimi, grilled seafood, or meat and they bring you dishes from those, not specific items you choose yourself.

I would have given more stars 🌟. The place is a bit hidden, which contributes to its great experience. The staff was super friendly and professional. We ordered the standard meal, selecting two main courses (meat and grilled fish - sashimi and grilled fish), and we were well-fed and satisfied.

The chef is very passionate about his work, and you can feel it through his dishes.

It is highly recommended.

I’ve been here twice already and will probably go again! Small, minimalist, and cozy atmosphere with a cute view of their garden from parts of the dining area. Very friendly service. Set meals for both visits were very delicious. The pork, tofu, and tomato soup was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of acidity. Tuna rice bowl with egg was also very nice - high quality fish was used. Chef is able to look out into dining area and also very friendly. Prices very reasonable. Definitely recommend this...
