Perch Coffee — Restaurant in Tokyo

I had high hopes for this place given the reviews, but I was thoroughly disappointed. Two things: Bad coffee, and even worse staff.

Coffee is average at best -- my iced latte came out so watery, they clearly don't pay any mind to account for dilution when serving cold bevs. The place being an indie cafe I naturally expected better.

Coffee aside, my short stay was a very unpleasant one thanks to the male manager... After getting my drink to go, I set my stuff down on a nearby unoccupied table so I can put away my phone, consolidate my two shopping bags, etc. The not-so-sexy but necessary step to make sure you don't spill your drink as soon as you walk out of the store! haha. It was not even 10 seconds before the petty manager leans over the counter and tells me that the table is reserved for dine-in customers only and does a shooing gesture with his hand.

To be clear, there were other tables available, no dine-in customer was waiting for a table, and I wasn't sitting down or enjoying my drink! I was merely reshuffling my two shopping bags so I could get on my way - and in a visibly self-explanatory manner too, I believe! His weaponized pettiness and diluted drink left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Reading through the reviews more carefully now, several others had commented on both the manager as well as the watered down drink... I'll have to let this be a lesson to scroll down a little further on the review section! Sigh. Thanks...

There's two full-sized tables for 4, 2 smaller tables that would be snug for 2, and several counter seats. However, they seem to be pretty popular around lunch, but they do takeaways if there's no room. The entrance is also up a set of stairs so you'll have to carry strollers up.

The cafe itself has a nice modern ambience with the bare concrete and wood look. A limited but adequate choice of different coffee, as well as meals and cakes/muffins. The owners were nice, and if you like small neighbourhood shops, you'll probably like this one. My sandwich was pretty normal; I think the ambience is more of the draw...

Although it is far from my hotel, we intentionally came here to try for the special outlook sandwiches and coffees. We have no disappointments for everything, the cappuccino is so good - we can feel the coffee beans are good and fresh and the taste is very balance ! As a muffin lover, I loved their banana muffin- crispy banana piece made it almost prefect ! We need the this coffee...
