DON'T GO IN HERE. Look, I don't usually leave a place without ordering anything, and especially not leave a bad review without having an honest taste of what the establishment has to offer, but the service and atmosphere was so damn bad that I have to warn you. As soon as we entered the place, it had a strong smell of curry and spices. And I get it, it is part of the menu, but I don't think a cafe should serve strong smelling dishes that could disturb other customers. The ambience was strange. Many propaganda posters in the wall. The opposite of comfy atmosphere. But the worst part definitely is the service. It's the worst I have ever experienced here in Japan. And look, I don't care about having a cheerful "Irasshaimasse!" like all the other shops here, but the least I expect is some customer service. We got in, didn't know how to order. No one came to greet us or show us a place to sit. It is damn hot outside since is summer, and I didn't want to risk ordering the wrong item so I asked about the cold drinks in the menu. The rude attendant didn't speak a word, just ignored me the first time, the second time I repeated she just looked at me and practically throwed me the menu. No thank you. With service like that I fear for my well being after eating or drinking anything at this...
Read moreAn excellent little café and guesthouse in a quiet--but easily accessible--Tokyo neighborhood: only a short walk from the Jimbocho subway station.
The staff here is extremely friendly; most of them are multilingual, proficient in English, and always eager to help improve your Tokyo experience. There are many promotional deals available at the front desk, including the very handy 24/48/72 hour unlimited Tokyo metro passes, which guests can purchase.
The room accommodations are practical and efficient. Private semi-double rooms are available to travelling couples. Bunk bed dormitory rooms are great for friend groups and families. Each floor has free Wifi, shared washrooms, and clean toilets.
The café on the first floor is 24hours for guests. They serve food up until 22:00 most nights. The menu is very eclectic with tasty international dishes and appetizers. There is also an impressive alcohol selection with beers from all over the world.
The Sakura Café & Guesthouse is a great choice for hungry wanderers, solo travelers, couples, friends, or families. I highly...
Read moreLovely discovery near the Imperial Palace, cute little menu (wish they had multigrain bread instead of white bread, but not docking points for that this time :)) Exquisite health teas (served in style) and green tea desserts. The only thing that I didn't like... since I like Tokyo I'm still not docking points is the smoking room right up close to the dining area, within an enclosure alright. A guy smoked and got out and I felt whiffs for a bit. Maybe they have it because it has an attached hotel but I don't like the idea so I hope they get rid of it and put a greenhouse there instead in keeping with the ambiance. It's ok if your sales dip some from that but I get it, it's not my business. Oh wow, I also discovered that this hotel has group runs. How cool is that. I haven't stayed in the hotel so can't comment on how good it is but...
