Sarutahiko Coffee Shimokitazawa — Restaurant in Tokyo

I seek out great espresso, specifically cortados or gibraltars, and beans wherever I travel (we're 3rd wave people). I've been to sarutahiko in Kyoto and was wildly impressed. In Shimo They are just as great with a delicate fruity and pineapple flavor to the beans. They have a San Remo machine, which makes fantastic espressos. We're not into lattes, and that seems to be the only choice on their menu. How to explain a cortado was a challenge and some Google translation. The staff are amazing, The barista seemed to know what she was doing. So in the end they served us a shot of espresso and a small cup of cold milk. Granted it was 90 degrees outside...so they do understand...

Yes it’s a sin to eat Italian gelato in Japan where there are so many wonderful desserts but the Tiki Toko ice cream at the lovely coffee shop is soooo tasty. The staff is super friendly and helpful and we had a lovely matcha latte and tea with the ice cream. Nice place to relax in the funky...
