I've been going here for years and come back for the taste, it's great. The service is unfortunately lacking recently, and the staff introduce random rules to the menu which aren't listed anywhere and keep getting more restrictive as time goes on. I ordered the dinner set which comes with two different curries and was asked for my spice level, upon which I was told I had to choose the same spice level for both. Since they're made separately this seems like an incredibly arbitrary restriction, and honestly some curries taste better with different spice levels. I wanted a hot keema and a mild butter chicken, for example, but this isn't possible.
The other reason to bring the rating down is there was a cockroach on my jacket in the store and when I pointed it out to a staff member they killed it in front of me. The building itself seems to have a cockroach issue in general (I see multiple each time), so I will go their second store instead where the staff are more flexible and the store is...
Read moreAbout 30 or 35 seats in a comfortable atmosphere on the third floor. Meeting a friend and both of us had some trouble with the Google Maps directions. No Wi-Fi and couldn't even use my phone's wireless. I had no signal and his was quite weak. Menu is kind of complicated with lots of unsual naan types. The staff looks more Indian then Nepali, but I forgot to ask.
The portions were generous, but the spice level was Japanese, so relatively mild. I got a combo set with two curries and a piece of tandoori chicken, but also rice as well as naan, salad, and drink. Both curries were average and the naan was on the sweet side. If it had been more evenly cooked I might have gone up to five stars, but I'm going to hold at the high four stars.
Still mostly ignoring the complexities of the new rating system. It's almost like the geniuses of google have never heard of GIGO. Less data is more than...
Read moreSital Indian restaurant is quite good with a variety of dishes. It is located in central downtown kichijoji. I usually go for their vegetable curry and man with some Indian beer. My first time there, they asked how hot I wanted my curry. I said just as hot as they eat it in India. I was disappointed that it wasn't very hot. When I finished, they asked if it was hot enough. They were surprised when I said no. From then on, they made it hotter for me. The restaurant is rather small, but I've never had to make reservations....
