My wife and I have been going to Tableaux for years, and it’s sad to say that it’s just not the same anymore. We used to love coming here, the food always felt special and the atmosphere had this cozy charm, but that magic is gone now.
We went on a quiet Monday night with only a few tables occupied, and while the service was friendly and attentive, every dish took a long time to come out. We ordered the truffle French fries, which were just okay, mild truffle flavor, nothing exciting but still decent. The white liver mousse had a nice texture but lacked depth in flavor.
The real disappointment was the 150g skirt steak. We asked for medium rare, but the ends were almost well done and tough, while the center was closer to medium. The flavor was average and the sauce didn’t help much.
The menu has changed a lot since the old days, and unfortunately, not for the better. For a bill of about ¥10,000, we both left feeling disheartened. I’ve always been a fan of the restaurant group, but sadly this will be our last visit to Tableaux. It’s hard watching a place you loved lose what...
Read moreThe only star that is taken off is because of smoke. I am not a fan of smoking environments, and this restaurant does have smoking inside.
Went on a date, and the restaurant had a fun vibe. The staff was so kind, allowing us to go into the restaurant first even though we had mistakenly reserved only the lounge. The food was wonderful, and they had sourdough bread (rare here in Japan!). The restaurant was quiet and interesting and we enjoyed our meal.
The staff then showed us into the lounge. The atmosphere was also great in the lounge, and the staff was incredibly attentive and courteous. There is only cigar smoking allowed inside of the lounge, cigarettes must be smoked outside.
The live music was excellent, and we stayed for half of the set in spite of the smoke because it was so good. I wish I could give this place a 4.5...
Read moreWe visited Tableaux to cap off a four day visit to Tokyo and it was a brilliant evening.
We highly recommend taking a trip to Daikanyama to visit this wonderful restaurant. The interior is beautiful and the atmosphere was fantastic. It is clearly very popular with locals as a place for a fun night out.
The food was very good - and the 5,000 yen tasting menu was a great way to experience it.
We were very well looked after by Atsuya and Kentaro who were very kind about us not speaking Japanese and made sure we had a magnificent night. For those who have spent a long day exploring tourist attractions in Tokyo this is well worth the short train ride to Daikanyama from Shinjuku or Shibuya to experience Tokyo from a different angle.
We look forward to visiting again one day. Many thanks to the staff for their...
