2019.4.6: I am writing this review for All people and Specially MUSLIMS. I was introduced to this shop through a Japanese Muslim sister. The shop is known for its Vegan and Gluten free food and sweets.

I am writing regarding the cake. I tried one and it was great. However having never tried a Japanese cake before I needed my Japanese friend opinions also. I took one piece of cake and my friends loved it and said they will pay the shop a visit because of the delicious taste which might be due to the use of NATURAL 100% INGREDIENTS. So I placed my first order for my supervisor birthday party However please make sure you tell the shop owner that you don't want ALCOHOL to be added to your cake(they add it to give a good fragrance to the cake as they explained to me). The cake was delicious also and loved by Japanese students.

Second order was for my father birthday party and the cake was soo delicious probably it was the best I ate since I was born and my father enjoyed it so very much. First time order was white cream shiffon cake second time chocolate cake which I confirm the ingredients of chocolate with my Muslims friends and they said it was halal).

The shop owners are so kind to explain to you and show you the ingredients they use for baking their sweets.

I would highly recommend this shop to any Muslim living in Japan or coming as a tourist.

I have to add that the shop is considered a little expensive regarding its sweets because of the ingredients used being Natural and the shop owners bake their cake by hand(it is not a chain shop where the machines prepare the cake). No machine can replace the Kindness implemented while cooking.

**updated2019/7/9 And Today I went with my Muslim friend and the chiffon cake has become Halal inshaa Allah. TAKAGIYA san stopped using the small amount of Alcohol in the cooking of chiffon cake. Also all the vegan desserts are Halal inshaa Allah. If you feel worried, you can ask Takagiya san for the ingredients of the recipe of cake to get reassured.

Dessert Atelier Takagiya In Sugamo

A very unexpected and pleasant discovery near Sugamo Station in Toshima-ku.

Takagiya is a small cake-shop & cafe' owned by ms. Hiroyo Takagi an experienced chef.

The shop established in 2002 sells vegan cakes, sweets, cookies and offers a food menu' with a few delicious vegan option.

They also sells vegan birthday cakes.

Prices are reasonable, food taste good, staff are friendly. The shop have a little bit an old style taste atmosphere with old vinyl records at wall and nice classical...

Outstanding homemade sweets, one of the best chiffon cake I have tried in Japan.

That said, drinks were on the pricier side and instead of welcoming you with a glass of water they make you wait until you receive your order, if you want a glass of water you also need to ask for it.
