I am thrilled to share my incredible experience at Taquito Shinkoiwa, a Mexican restaurant located in the vibrant city of Tokyo, Japan. From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
To start our meal, we ordered the cactus and chicharron, a delectable starter that was bursting with flavor and texture. The combination of the tender cactus and crispy chicharron was a true treat for the taste buds, and it set the tone for what would be an unforgettable dining experience.
For our main courses, we opted for the beef alambre and the pastor gringa, both of which were absolutely amazing. The beef alambre was perfectly cooked, with juicy and tender strips of beef that were complemented by fresh vegetables and a delicious marinade. The pastor gringa was equally impressive, with succulent pork that was expertly seasoned.
To wash down our meal, we ordered a selection of drinks that were as delicious as they were refreshing. The attention to detail in the preparation of each drink was evident, and it added an extra layer of enjoyment to our already exceptional dining experience.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of our meal at Taquito Shinkoiwa was the unparalleled attention we received from the staff. From the moment we arrived, they went out of their way to ensure that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect. Their knowledge of the menu and their recommendations were invaluable, and their warm and attentive service was the icing on the cake.
Overall, our experience at Taquito Shinkoiwa was nothing short of exceptional. From the delicious food to the outstanding service, everything was top-notch. We traveled all the way from Melbourne to Tokyo to try this award-winning restaurant, and we were not disappointed. If you're in Tokyo and looking for a truly outstanding Mexican dining experience, look no further than...

From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere transports you straight to Mexico. The vibrant decor and lively music create an ambiance that is both nostalgic and inviting. As someone who is half Mexican, dining here brought back cherished memories of my childhood, especially the times spent with my grandmother.
The food at Taquito Shinkoiwa is nothing short of exceptional. Every dish is prepared with love and authenticity. I had the pleasure of trying several dishes, and each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors. The service was impeccable, earning a well-deserved 10/10 for their attentive and friendly staff.
One standout feature of this restaurant is their in-house cotija cheese, which you can purchase to take home. I bought some and it was absolutely amazing – a true testament to their dedication to quality and authenticity.
The menu also boasts an impressive selection of tequilas and nonalcoholic beverages like horchata. These drinks perfectly complement the delicious food, making the experience even more memorable. In fact, the food and drinks here are so special, I would gladly place them on my ofrenda in honor of my past relatives.

Read moreI am from the US (lived all over the US and have friends who are like a 2nd family to me who is from Mexico) and was craving Mexican food so I looked up places in Chiba and found this place!
I had the Cochinita pibil and Pastor tacos and they were very delicious, probably the best tacos I’ve had in Japan. Also it’s not really fatty so I don’t get a stomach ache like I do with some of the restaurants in the US.
Only difference is, the tacos here are very expensive and small but I think it’s because I’m comparing it to the US.
Usually the US has taco Tuesday $2 tacos and normal days is $10-$12 for 2- 3 tacos depending on the state / city you are in but the portions are a lot larger and they put a lot of toppings and have sides (Most Mexican restaurants have free chips and salsa). We paid 900¥ each, for a small tiny cup of guacamole and chips.
I think this place is really good to go when you miss good Mexican food because it literally tastes amazing but not somewhere I can afford to go every week or every other week. Just for me alone the bill was ¥3040 plus tax and I feel like I could’ve eaten more.
I was so shocked when it came because it was so tiny that I forgot to take photos. But I gave this a 4 star because the people are friendly, menus in English and Japanese, place is so clean and the food was awesome.
I will definitely go back when I...
