Unimpressed.
I’m British and maybe that’s why I’m grading this so low, but hear me out and I’ll critique each element of my experience here and the “Full English” that I ate.
The restaurant is very small and cramped and there is only one big table. The place is not decorated in any way. The walls are bare and the floor is raw. Even the chairs and table themselves are past there best.
I love the concept and the menu is enticing as an Englishman and a lover of different cuisines. But the staff seemed extensively stressed out as if they had bitten off more than they can chew.
Now for the “full english”. It took a long time to arrive, which is odd because most of it was undercooked. There is no bacon. No black pudding. No pot of tea or any of the extras you sometimes can expect (dumpling, potato cakes etc. The bread was fried which would be okay but we’d have much preferred the option to have toast instead. The sausage was lonely by itself. There was a hash-brown which is NOT part of a full English, it is American. The mushrooms were sparse an very hard as if they had only seen the frying pan for about 12 seconds. They can no time to absorb all the other flavours. They should ideally have also been portobello mushrooms. The tomato was also only flash fried on one side and the other distinctly cold. All this plus it was rather expensive. There are dozens of nicer places to get breakfast in the area. Next time we’ll try those instead I think.
Don’t get me wrong, I finished the whole plate but that itself also highlights how stingy a plate of food this was. I wish I could go back and show the staff how it should be done. If you eat this as your first experience of a full English then I pity you. You’ll miss the point as the people here have.
Ending with some positives. Baked beans - good job! :) Can pay by credit card - excellent, not always the case in Japan, even...
Read moreordered the Taiwan breakfast. It was so bad and so expensive. In Tokyo, it’s very easy to find a cheap yet delicious Taiwan breakfast store, which makes the meal here even more hideous. The food was not just bad, it gives me the impression as if it’s not Taiwanese breakfast, but what Taiwanese people treated their prisoners with—tasteless and weird.
Even worse is the environment. They have no intention whatsoever to make a little decoration for the restaurant. The floor was dirty as hell. The only reason for me to explain why it’s so black and disgusting is that a fire happened here making everything burned and they are too poor and lazy to replenish the place. And why did the fire happened? Because the cook is so bad at cooking!!! And the wall too, cover with oil stains!!! I don’t understand how you people tolerate eating in this environment. The food wasn’t great at all compared to the price. Overall, if you want to taste food from different cultures, go to restaurants where locals would go. Don’t be deceived by their concept( although it’s kind of insightful), because that’s...
Read moreI must say I have thoroughly enjoyed the Mexican breakfast there. Today was the first time I went there and I will come back for more for sure. The service was very friendly and super helpful and I must say Rie is an asset there. She was the chef and she also explained everything to us in English and informed us of the upcoming Moroccan breakfast. It was a great experience for great food and service. 5 ✨ for Rie also.
There's a hind side which I think the management should take into consideration. Running a restaurant like that with just 2 people at 10:40am is very difficult particularly if you need to stay up with the high standards of food which is not inexpensive. Waiting time was long and they couldn't manage to make drinks, clear tables, attend customers, minimize waiting time all at the same time. I think you need to analyze your peak periods and peak days and optimize staffing accordingly. You can retain staff and pressure on them would be less and much better guest...
