My visit at Teddy's Bigger Burger was a spontaneous one while I was strolling around the streets on my way home.
I ordered the Avocado Burger set with a Dr. Pepper Coke and Chilli-cheese fries and some mayonnaise and was promptly surprised how well the waitress' English was.
This is however as far as my positive experience with Teddy's went. The coke was watered down a lot and was barely recognizable as Dr. Pepper. The fries looked good, golden with some herbs sprinkled on, and the chilli meat sauce looked decently thick textured. The fries were however almost ash dry and the Chili tasted very bland.
The Burger itself looked very good and well made, but a little small for the price. The Bun was nothing special either, similar texture to McDonald's and other big Burger chains, but less "sweet" in taste. The sauce on the Burger was definitely unique and pleasant but nothing special, a bit fruity with various spices and , a creamy texture.
My biggest disappointment however was the meat. It didn't have any particular flavor, did not stand out in taste at all.
All in all I would not recommend visiting this restaurant, especially because a good Burger should have decent meat on it and a Bun apart from the mass industry standard, but Teddy's had neither.
For the price of more than 2000¥ I'd recommend eating somewhere else, even the Bis Chains like Bk, McD,...
Read moreI visited this burger place for a Saturday lunch after some shopping and before going to the Meiji shrine. My overall impression was positive, and I would recommend this place if you crave a straightforward but very good burger. The most memorable aspect of my visit was the amazing gluten free burger bun, which was very airy and exceeded my expectations.
We ordered 2 separate burgers and a large fries to share. I found the avocado burger delicious. We spent about 4500 yen for a 2 person lunch. The portion sizes were as expected for the price, making the overall value for money fair considering the harajuku neighbourhood.
The service was fast with about 10 min between ordering and serving, and the staff was friendly. You order using a physical menu (English menu available). The order and payment was made at the counter. They accept cash, credit card, and mobile payments, making the process fast and convenient. Additionally, the staff did not speak good English, however this was not necessary.
The atmosphere was pleasant & cozy. The crowd was mostly women who were shopping in the area and the place was busy. The music was relaxed Japanese and played at a comfortable volume, allowing for normal conversation. We sat at a 2 person table with a view at the street, and the seating was very comfortable. The...
Read moreI visited Teddy's Bigger Burgers, the first Japanese location of the Hawaiian chain, on a weekday around 2 PM. Located on the 2nd floor, it's in stiff competition with many premium burger shops in Harajuku. The atmosphere is casual, with free Wi-Fi and light American pop music playing in the background. I had no trouble finding a seat, and service was adequate and self-serve for water.
I ordered the Regular Burger (JPY 1,243) and the Chicken Burger (JPY 1,133). Neither comes with sides, but both are a fair size. The most notable feature is the bun: its distinct light sweetness and crumb texture will feel instantly familiar to American diners, suggesting it’s either imported or made using an authentic US recipe. The beef patty is well-made with no gristle and has a balanced, solid flavor. It comes with a few slices of onion and tomato, a leaf of lettuce, and Teddy's original sauce, a dressing that is lightly sweet and spicy, similar to honey mustard. The fried chicken patty was cooked well and thankfully served at a reasonable temperature.
Overall, the experience is similar to local chains like Freshness Burger. While the authentic American-style bun is a nice touch, if you are looking for a truly outstanding burger experience in Harajuku, you can definitely find...
