I have never written a bad review for a restaurant in the past but our experience at the pancake cafe was so bad, it deserves comment. We arrived on Christmas Day and told that there would be a long queue. We accepted this with a party of 7. Our party was separated into a group of 4 and 3. Despite there being tables inside, the party of 3 was left outside waiting for an extra 40 minutes. We understood the queue, but NOT why the party of 3 were kept outside when tables were available - especially on Christmas Day. We understood that we may not be able to sit together, but at least we would eat at approximately the same time as a family. Our group of 3 left after a total of approximately 2 hour wait frustrated and insulted without a morsel. It was an extremely disappointing way to spend hours waiting in a queue, especially when it was a Christmas lunch as a family. We could understand the queue, but NOT why our group was separated in time when tables were available and we were next in line. We felt very unvalued as a customer, especially as we do try to be respectful and considerate tourists. This has left a very bad taste and impression of usually excellent interactions with usually affable and lovely Japanese people. This cafe service was VERY, VERY POOR and I would never go back there - pancakes definitely aren't worth the frustration, insult and wait!!! POOR...
Read moresmall shop hidden on a side street. amazing place. friendly staff. With no experience with language, it was easy to communicate with hand gestures and a friendly smile. Picture menu available. i showed up 10 mins before opening (weekday) and there was a small line but i was the first group to go in. line builds up quickly so plan ahead. Pancakes take 30mins to make so put that into consideration with wait time. will definitely go again.
8 month update I went again! Now that tourism is open to the country get here 30-45 mins before they open. the line will build up. if your not the first 10 to get in, wait time is about 60-90 mins. they even have a sign outside in front of the queue to let you know that. they dont fill all 20 seats at first to not overwhelm the kitchen.
even though i was first group to get in, still worth it. got the seasonal hazelnut topped fluffypancake. highly suggest trying their seasonal menu or any other flavors. original is still great if you decide to just do that.
they give you a printed QR code to place your order but noticed others placing order directly with staff. so depends if you feel like talking to someone or not. lol still a...

What I got the fluffy pancakes ofcourse. This is my second time at having fluffy pancakes and so I was anticipating it to be eggy. And I am not sure if I have already been conditioned but it was not as eggy as I thought it would be. The pancakes were jiggly and fluffy. It as very freshly made. I got their seasonal pancakes and i think the toppings are more on the artificial side.. there was a slide of lemon jelly? Overall it was okay for what it was.
Environment Very small space and they have you wait outside, it can take up to 1 hour. It is in a neighborhood looking place. One thing to note is that they expect each person to place an order so there is no sharing of dishes. Which is expected since they are so busy. The inside is very small but it can move pretty quickly, if you know what you want.
Niceness of the staff Ordering was through a QR code on the tables, so there was min staff interactions. But they were available when I needed them
Dollar It was also an experience place and the pancakes was 2000+Yen. I went with my friend and for 2 the total was 5000 some.
Yes I would bring someone here if they have not had...
