I'm not Japanese and am not a 'connoisseur' of simple Japanese food. But I found this tiny place to be absolutely adorable. The food was delicious and what I thought was a mother-son team was so charming. The older lady worked so hard taking care of the customers, while the son was the chef working behind the counter. The operation was efficient but most importantly so charming and welcoming. Being a foreigner, I received the warmest welcome when I walked in and sat at the counter (I was by myself). They didn't speak English but had an English menu and I only had to point at the picture of the dish I wanted. The lunch was very tasty, a perfect portion. When I left, they both had the biggest and most sincere smiles on their faces as they bid me farewell. They were equally hospitable to the other customers. I ordered the tendon matsu that came with a deep fried conger eel, shrimp, pepper, egg and pumpkin. There was good and bad where the eel was amazing but the shrimp was soggy. The rice is pre-sauced which I thought they drowned the rice a little too much. I heard other people had a better experience so maybe I went...
