This is a really tasty restaurant located about 6 minutes north of Shimo-kitazawa Station. It's a converted house, so there aren't a lot of tables, and I recommend calling for a reservation just to be safe. When my husband and I went on a recent Sunday night, the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. The food here is really delicious, the closest to authentic Mexican that I have found in Tokyo, and I really enjoyed everything we ordered. This is not a TexMex place and instead serves real Mexican dishes just like I ate during the five years I lived in Mexico. I loved the mole especially and the tacos took me back to memories of Mexico City. Some other reviewers mentioned the servings being small and/or prices being high, but a lot of what is served in this restaurant is imported, so I felt that the prices were reasonable for the amount of dishes featuring imported ingredients (such as fresh poblano peppers) or hand-made from scratch (corn tortillas). There is a massive selection of Mexican soft drinks, unique fruit juices, and a huge variety of tequilas as well, all imported. One reviewer mentioned slow service, but we didn't encounter that at all and the dishes came out of the kitchen very efficiently. Overall, the food was great, the service was awesome, and we had a great experience, so we will definitely be going back to this...
Read moreMy host family brought me here for dinner and it was such a great experience. I haven't had authentic Mexican food since coming to Japan until I ate here. I'm Mexican and I was really missing homecooked mexican meals. The food at this restaurant is genuine Mexican food and the taste is very authentic.
I had found horchata and tacos somewhere in Shibuya, but it doesnt compare to what I had at Tepito. The horchata tastes just like how I make it back at home, very fresh and very smooth. Every dish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I would have thought my grandma was cooking in the kitchen.
We had pozole, tacos, tamales, and enfrijoladas. Along with nachos and drinks. The staff was very very polite and friendly. The ambience and decor made the whole experience really enjoyable. The restaurant is small but not crammed. It's very cozy, like you are eating at someone's house.
I really recommend this place for those of you who want REAL Mexican food in Japan. We planned to take photos but forgot to until after we already left, so I unfortunately don't have any pictures to to with this review. I will definitely be coming back and I'll be able to take some...

You can find very authentic Mexican food like Pozole, Tamales, Menudo, Enchiladas, flautas... and also some more North Mexico - Tex-Mex dishes like burritos, chilli con carne... And this restaurant is most probably one of the best places in Japan to try Tequila! The selection they have is enormous, as for the Tequila-set, where they give you a a set of 3 tequila shots to compare them. And of course to finish the dinner with a Mexican Flan, you will go...
