I wanted to like this place. I wanted to think it was a retro place where the owner was working away making amazing pizzas just like from New York. None of this happened. I arrived earlier than my two friends, and was able to get a table for three. The interior is old, tired and dirty. The wall hangings are all old and dirty. The pillows on the L bench around the table were old and dirty. The table was not cleaned off properly. What surprised me at 'Tony's Pizza' was they had no English menus! For a place claiming to be New York pizza, how much time would it take to create even one copy of their menu. In this day and age, I could use Google Translate to translate the menu, but for customer service sake they could have an English menu for their New York pizza place. The fact they don't have English menus hints at the fact they don't want tourists. My friends ran later than expected so I sent photos of the menu, for which they used google to translate. We found out you get a Quarter of a pizza. So we ordered 4 quarters. What arrived at our table was a joke. The server, speaking in quick Japanese, explained that there were 2 peperoni, one pineapple-bacon and one meat-veggie quarters. They were indistinguishable from each other. There was so much melted cheese on this pizza that we couldn't tell the difference. I had a WTF momnent and my friends were so hungry that we dived in and really didn't care what we were eating. The cheese was lackluster, and that's it. We could have been eating anything under that cheese. Essentially we were eating cheese on toasted dough. Very little else made itself known to our tastebuds. How anyone can offer a decent rating to such a rundown restaurant with a dirty interior and less-than-adequent pizza is beyond me. The staff deserve some positives; they were friendly enough. They were nice to allow me to wait inside. I came after 1pm so the place wasn't crowded, but was steady. So, I wanted to like the place, but walk away with an aftertaste of...
Read moreA few weeks ago, I visited this place based on a YouTuber’s recommendation. I’d heard there was a really friendly Korean staff member, but our server was a very kind Japanese staff member. We ordered three dishes on the staff’s recommendation: a fresh tomato pizza, a vegetable and meat mix pizza, and Neapolitan spaghetti. It was a wonderful dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the pizza—I’ve never had pizza like this before. It was incredibly soft, and the cheese was amazing.
The restaurant’s interior was cozy and beautifully designed; it felt like I was stepping into a scene from a Ghibli Studios animation. When we paid for our meal, the Korean staff warmly greeted us and even gave us some candies and chocolates. We instantly fell in love with the chocolates and tried to find them throughout our trip, but they were nowhere to be found in any convenience stores or markets. I wish I could ask him where to buy them! If I visit Kichijoji again, we will definitely...
Read moreFrom Norway through Europe all the way to Tokyo , this is by far the best pizza we ever had. The restaurant is nicely decorated and takes you back in time with the coziest atmosphere. The staff were good , service was fast and very friendly. The prices are really worth it and then some , and you really DO get your moneys worth as you can taste the craftmanship and love for food in every bite. And for those who eant something other than pizza , the pastadishes are also amazing and definitely worth a try. Would strongly recommend to visit this restaurant if you...
