Quite a wait to get in. They opened at 11:30, we arrived around 11:40 and waited until around 1:13 to get seated so make sure to get there early! Great customer service! English menu available. Our server was very attentive, even caught me mentioning I wanted another beer to my partner, then came to offer me another round. The food was delicious! We ordered the original, beef, and pork + green onion okonomiyaki. I would have liked to try the pork and kimchi monjayaki, but the three okonomiyaki was enough to share between my partner and I. Price range seemed decent in my opinion. We spent around 7000 yen for 1 appetizer of kimchi, 3 okonomiyaki, and 5 beers Overall great experience. My partner hasn’t had okonomiyaki before and he thoroughly enjoyed the food. Other things to note: • shoes will be taken off if seated upstairs, they have a locker available to put your shoes in • bathrooms available in restaurant, use the unisex slippers provided when using the restroom • call button available for whenever you want to order anything • okonomiyaki is made by the chefs downstairs, monjayaki is made by yourself at your grilling table • staff was able to speak pretty good English! We were able to order everything perfectly communicating to our waiter in English • hangers available to hang coats and such on the wall • bags for umbrella or umbrella hanging area available for customers (it was raining pretty heavily the day we went so it was nice to have instead of carrying a wet umbrella with us)

Some friends told me to try okonomiyaki, so I found this one in Google maps. I gave it a try and it was really good! I never expected lettuce to taste this well! There is an English menu as well so you don't have to worry about the language barrier. The place got some nice atmosphere and traditional Japan vibes. There will be a grill at your table so you can make the okonomiyaki by yourself (instructions are given in the menu card) or let the chef make one for you. We went with the second option to play safe the first time. You can watch the chefs preparing the okonomiyaki, it's quite an experience just watching it. After they finish the okonomiyaki they serve it in at your grill so it's still hot when you're eating it. It had lots of flavor and tasted amazing! They serve free ice cold water as well. Next time we probably going to try making the okonomiyaki, that will be an experience as well. I would recommend this food to every tourist just to try this great delicacy from the Japanese kitchen.

The service is great and the people working there are very attentive and helpful - most of them speak basic English. We arrived around the opening time (5pm) and got a table right away. The place is also quite conveniently located and the prices are very affordable. However, the food was very mediocre and the place looked a little neglected (attention to maintenance and cleaning of the place seemed lacking). For reference we have tried the same dishes in other places in Tokyo and Kioto which were amazing; Regrettably, Tsurujiro tasted below par. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either.

Overall: very good if you are in the area and looking for some Japanese cuisine. But not sure if I would travel (more than the walking distance) for these again. Location: fairly easy to find (just look for the queue) Queuing: around 20-30 min (visited at 1pm) Serving size: 2 okonomiyakis (standard and pork) were enough for two (we sre light eaters) but if you are a person who finishes your BigMac meal, then you might want to order some sides or something menu: photos attached. Service: they kept our luggages so didn‘t have to climb the stairs with them Atmosphere: not fancy

It’s was a great Monja-Yaki restaurant! At first, I thought this shop is a tourist trap since its inside is so clean and it has a English explanation outside. However, it ended-up to be a awesome restaurant with descent pricing. We ordered mentaiko-mochi-monja(spicy fish eggs and rice cake flavored Monja) and mixed-modern-yaki (Japanese cabbage pancake with noodles.) You have to cook monja by your own, modern-Yaki was cooked by the store person. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked nicely. It will be busy after 7pm, so go early if you don’t want to wait!
