Day of visit: 18/3/24, Monday We arrived half an hour before opening time and decided to wait at the nearby park. It was 7 minutes to opening when I decided to glance over in the direction of the restaurant. Only then did I realise there was a queue forming! So we rushed over and luckily were part of the first batch that entered the restaurant.
Service was the bare minimum but I understand there is little room for pleasantries working for such a packed restaurant. Thus my overall rating does not account for service.
Food was alright. We got the Yamachou set and kitsune udon. The kitsune udon had shavings of yuzu peel on top. However dashi was standard and did not taste of yuzu. On the other hand, the appetisers for the set were quite delicious. It was two slices of marinated sashimi (tuna I think), rolled egg omelet and pork bits stewed in soy. Tempura and hot udon for the set were standard fare.
The set comes up to 1800 yen which isn’t bad, whereas the kitsune udon was 980 yen (kinda expensive for kitsune udon but I guess that’s how it is for Ebisu).
Bottom line, I might go again for lunch if I happen to be in the area but I wouldn’t travel to Ebisu...
Read moreI visited alone on July 19th around 5:15pm, and the food was decent. But the service was kind of disappointing with the price they offered.
The staff (the shortest lady at the restaurant) served customers who can't speak Japanese like prison (no smile and only use a finger pointing at the manu asked me to answer), but she services a young Japanese man sitting next to me like an angel (even the young man has no politeness when he was eating like making loud noise and kept squeezing into my table).
I was totally polite when I ordered my food, and I didn't mess up anything during my meal. But I felt that I was offered a meal as I was a poor person.
I don't care if the restaurant was voted as a 百名店, but you should treat people fairly if you accept non Japanese customers (they provide English menu too). Otherwise, please put a note on the door saying "only...

There are two 2000 yen sets and a 3000 yen course. The difference is hard to tell from the menu, but basically with the course you get more appetizers. However, you get the best appetizers in the sets anyway, and the course doesn't get the big shrimp tempura. Not sure why the course is 1000 yen more, and would recommend one of the 2000 yen sets.
Everything was good, especially the sashimi you get with the appetizers. Ironically, the actual udon was probably the weakest dish, so if you're just after udon you might look elsewhere.
Very busy, so not suited for getting comfortable and chatting for...
