Warayakiya Shinagawa — Restaurant in Tokyo

Stumbled on this place my first night in Japan looking for a restaurant around Shinagawa station. Great find. It's on the second floor up the elevator. Ordered the bonito and the black hair beef (I assume that's a breed of Japanese Wagyu). They sear it over burning straw right in front of you. Incredible deeply smoky flavor and both the bonito and the beef just melt in your mouth. The bonito mostly raw and the beef cooked to juicy fatty perfection. -We made a reservation online for dinner which was all-you-can-eat/drink, but only found out afterwards it wasn’t the case when we went to pay. Came out to roughly the same price so not an issue for me, but if you do the same make sure to be very clear...

Every dish was beautiful. I came as a lone diner after work and sat at the bar watching the food being roasted and enjoyed the company of the very friendly staff. Lots of locals dining here after work so it is very lively.

Try the bonito (exceptional) and the bamboo baked yuzu-citrus miso
