As I told Yasui-san, this was one of the most delicious and memorable dinners I have had across the 42 counties I have been to. We did omakase (chef's choice).

The sushi was phenomenal, unlike any I have had before. I did not know tuna could taste that delicious, and there was an amazing selection of shellfish and others. Even fish that is not usually my favourite, like herring, was somehow delicious; more delicate and nuanced. He also selected two sake to go with the meal, both fantastic.

A really neat aspect was the history. The shop is now headed by the fifth generation of the family, with his son also working there. He talked about how each generation makes a contribution; his father the cucumber roll, himself aged fish, and his son, dessert.

Alongside the fantastic food was his exemplary service. Despite being extremely busy - his hands never stopped dancing a mile a minute - he took time to explain dishes and make conversation with us in his excellent English (I speak some Japanese but his English was clearly way better). It felt like he was both a master chef and a friendly bartender.

For fellow travellers - reservations are probably a good idea, as the place filled up. However, we were able to walk in on Thursday at 5pm, and there remained a few spots at the bar (for omakase) while we were there. The entire dinner took a bit over two hours. The amount of food was fantastic and we were both stuffed. The two omakase and two carafes of sake came out to a touch over 20,000 yen (currently 135 USD) and while I usually don't spent that much on single meals, it was phenomenalluly worth it. There are also a la carte options that are less expensive.

It was an amazing omakase sushi experience, extremely legit (we were only foreigners besides a local professor) and a ton of fun. It epitomized the exceptionally food and hospitality culture of Japan. I can't wait to come back on my next trip, and can't recommend it...

The sushi was definitely fresh and there’s a labour of love, tuna bowl was generous in portion size, however I felt that there was a menu for foreigners and a menu for locals. The vibe and decoration is definitely authentic Japanese. The sushi chef tried very hard to explain in English the sushi we are having as the waiters struggled a bit with English. All in all, this place is worth it if you have a Japanese speaking friend to come along with and ideally sit at the counter. We sat upstairs with a...

150 yrs old 6 generation of same family running this restaurants. Currently run by father, son and his frd. Amazing sushi, extremely fresh made right in front of you. Lunch slot is really small and seats run out quickly... I highly recommend this place and would suggest coming a few minutes before opening to get the seating. Very affordable and extremely high quality. Amazing service and very customized to everyone as per their need. They only take cash during lunch but take card...
