This was such a unique experience for me and my wife. We were traveling Uji area, while we were looking for someplace to eat, and just got into this place through searching the area. It had the nicest almost unseen entrance from a side street. We enter the place when there were no customers at all inside, the woman which did not speak English, was very nice to us. Family restaurant with signature grill, very friendly staffs. A young lady also the cook and her father served my family in the evening. All table seats were booked at our arrival, so we had to dine on the bar. That left us in a situation where we had to talk with the owner face to face. The kindly old man tried to have us understand what he spoke even after being told we could not speak too much Japanese. A little bit awkward but definitely a pleasant dinner. Visiting from Hawaii, and the owner made such pleasant conversation, welcoming us and accommodating to us even though their menus are in Japanese. They explained all the dishes, made good recommendations and the food was DELICIOUS. Healthy, fresh and very tasty! Good portion sizes.
