I have been vegan for 20 years and have spent the last 10+ years traveling the world in search of the best vegan foods. I was so excited to learn about Suya as there aren't many vegan restaurants, let alone a vegan ramen restaurant in the area near where I live. Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed when I was told I wasn't allowed to eat at the restaurant. This is the first time I have ever been turned down by a restaurant because I had a (well-behaved!) baby with me. When asked, the restaurant simply doesn't allow babies to protect its equipment and setup. They said I can order their food through UberEATS, which cost nearly double during lunch time and without the other components of the lunch set. If a restaurant is going to turn away a hungry mother, at least allow customers the option of purchasing the lunch set for takeaway. It seems it is unfair treatment toward a parent and her baby when motherhood is already tough enough!
That aside, I ordered UberEATS on several occasions. The food was delicious, but the pricetag was steep for an a la carte lunch meal (ramen at that).
I really really wanted to like this place and cheer it on, but I think there are other vegan places in Yokohama that are friendlier toward moms and babies that I'll be supporting.
Please reconsider your approach to give your place a more inviting and welcoming space. After all, veganism is all about inclusiveness and kindness...
Read moreI had a lovely evening meal here, friendly staff! I ordered two cocktails, a starter salad, a hot appetiser, and half of one of their rice flour pizzas. The avocado miso yuzu salad was amazing, and the portion was great (I had eaten a quarter of it before I realised I hadnt taken a photo, easily sharable for two. The mushrooms came in a lovely small iron skillet and again were moreish and sharable between two to four people as a starter. The rice flour pizzas had a very pleasant vegan cheese! Both the cocktails I ordered may have been seasonal but were delicious, and the ice they use is crystal clear. They have a corner booth with a round table and two chairs here so you could probably bring a group of 6 if you reserve? The other tables could easily be brought together if you needed more space, but definitely call ahead for groups.
Everything above came to 4,820 yen well spent...
Read moreDisgusting establishment. Doesn't accept children under 12. My daughter eats all foods, why can't they come in? Ageism. Also once we were there and she turned us away, my sister asked if they did takeaway. The woman LIED and said no but they're on Uber eats for pickup and delivery... Not that I'd support them by doing that but they just made up these rules on the spot because of my daughter. My daughter who was chilling calm and we always order adult meals...
