Yoshitei — Restaurant in Yonezawa

Stunningly beautiful restaurant in a former villa dating from the early 20th century Taisho Era with a gorgeous trafitional Japanese garden.

Yoshi-tei specializes in Yonezawa Wagyu beef but I had the non-meat Washoku (Japanese) bento meal which costs just over 4000 yen and must be reserved at least 3 days in advance. My reservation was for a vegetarian meal so I'm not sure if it usually comes with fish. I believe the meal was vegan as well as vegetarian, but I'm not 100% sure.

The dishes included many local mountain vegetables that were absolutely delicious. The konyaku "sashimi" was also excellent.

Located in an very spacious old villa. There are some private rooms and a few table in the main dining area. We were sitted in the main dining area which we did get a view of the garden although it was snowing heavily. We ordered the lunch steak and lunch syabu set. Food was served very fast, initially a small side dish, then the roast beef salad. The meson dish was served soon after. The portion was just enough. The steak was done medium well. Reserved for dinner and had the steak course which came with a small appetizer, Yonezawa beef sashimi, salad, grilled Yonezawa sirloin steak with rice and miso soup and sorbet for dessert.
