Хосе & Josper — Restaurant in Almaty

As we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a pleasant Georgian atmosphere. It was very cozy and comforting. The service was very quick and nice. When we sat down, I ordered a red velvet cake and my dad ordered a cappuccino and apple pie. However, when I started to eat my supposed “red velvet cake”, I noticed that it’s flavor was off; and the more I ate it, the more disgusting it became. After taking a few more bites, I realized that this was nothing near a red velvet cake. It had this repulsive béchamel taste that a red velvet cake isn’t supposed to have. It should be embarrassing to the restaurant to even think of calling this cake a “red velvet”. Moreover, when we told the waiter our disgust towards the cake, he told us, “We don’t aim to have the same or better quality as other restaurants in the city, we do it our way.” The Apple pie was ok and the coffee was good. Overall, the red velvet was the worst 1200 tenge I’ve ever spent, period. Nice restaurant. Service is slow as we used to in Almaty. Nobody comes to check you if you do not call anyone. So annoying. Food is really tasty. No place to smoke you need to go to the corner of the street to smoke so keep it in mind and sit somewhere close outside. There are heaters at the outside and plastic cover which is a good and warmer athmosphere when it is winter.

In summer garden is nice. But the problem is that the tables have metal frames underneath that hits your leg and makes it uncomfortable to sit. Plus there were some Flys around which was disturbing (end of August)

Prices are somewhere in the middle.

It is a famous restaurant for locals, they have buch of options. I believe it worths trying...

I have visited this place recently. Yes, the interior is nice, waiters are polite (however the waiter serving our table was a little bit clumsy and commenting my words even I hadn't asked him to do so), food is okay too.
