Guinness Pub — Restaurant in Almaty

Originally I was excited by seeing an Irish Pub establishment in Almaty. They had a live singer who was impressive and I liked the atmosphere. Of minor concern was the waiter had no idea what a Black & Tan was, so I order a pint of Guinness for roughly $7 USD after a very confusing conversation. Of major concern was we ordered a pizza- bacon, pepperoni, tomato something. However the pizza we received was pepperoni and ham. After minor questions of getting the correct pizza we ordered, we were told yes we had, and being we were in a slight hurry we acquiesced, as pizza is pizza in a foreign country. However when the bill came they had charged us for a basic pizza, then added the toppings individually, amounting to $4 more than the pizza we had ordered. When we asked the waiter, he immediately went into defense mode and explained to us we received larger pieces of pepperoni and ham on this pizza than if we had received the other pizza (thus also admitting he had given us the wrong pizza to begin with). The frustrating thing is the pieces of ham and pepperoni weren't much at all on the pizza and then to be told we were given the wrong pizza and charged more because "the pieces of ham were larger on this pizza was beyond belief." After visiting 2 Irish pubs looking for a pint of Guinness without success I came across this pub when walking back to the hotel. I didn’t actually see it listed at first when doing a Google search so was quite surprised when I saw it. Surely this place must have Guinness! And it does! Finally a pint or two of Guinness in Almaty! Seems like a nice place. They have live music starting from 9pm though I didn’t stay too much longer after that. Nothing to do with the music which was ok. Just an early start the next day. Staff were polite enough. Price charged for the Guinness was KZT 2000, though the menu on the website states KZT 1790. That’s a 12% increase. I have since read reviews that others have experienced that they can overcharge. Not sure if that is the case here as I didn’t check the menu price before and the website might be outdated. I was just happy to get my Guinness but will check next time. Not great not terrible, especially considering its prices. For some hefty pay, you can have a proper Guinness here alongside some food. Food is the problematic part. Fish and chips come with real chips, not fries, which is just wrong on so many levels… They did not even taste good. I ordered extra fries just to have fries with my fish and those were bland as well, and very few for the extra few bucks. Fish itself was okay, but I had much better elsewhere in the city. If they at least used fries with fish and chips it would be an automatic five because service and atmosphere...
