I found this place through Google Maps. I'm finally feeling brave enough to go out again after the intense pandemic spike Almaty experienced recently. I will admit that from the reviews I had read I was expecting the place to be nicer than it was. Maybe it was because we sat outside. There were loud cars driving by frequency, so loud in fact they set off car alarms and it really bothered us. Had we dined inside I'm sure the noise would not have been a problem. The taco appetizer was interesting. A little too soupy for our liking but not bad. It seemed kind of like the chef had never actually had a taco before and had only seen them in the movies. It tasted like a cream soup poured on a crispy taco. The textures worked well together. I liked it and so did my kid but my husband did not. The entrees were decent. We had duck, lamb, and horse. Everything was good but nothing was truly amazing. I was a bit surprised because oh my god!!! Their wine list!!!Wow!!!! Their wine list!!! With a list like that I'd expect them to have the best food in town. It was impressive. Don't get me wrong. The food wasn't bad. It was good. It just wasn't as truly delicious as I was expecting it to be and hoping it would be. The chocolate fondant was delicious though. They still get 4 stars from me and I'll still probably be back. I'm a big fan of Sunday morning brunch. I'll see how their eggs benedict are one of...
Read moreWe visited that beautiful place a few times, both times for mostly alcohol needs, thus I AM NOT rating the food as the dishes looked very appealing. However, I am deducting the rating points for the wine experience I had. The menu doesn’t have “by glass” positions, thus waiters had to present the available 2 reds by their memory and as they didn’t know anything except the grape type, we had to try both. The wines were fine before I had a chance to look up the price of those in the final check 8.5$ for an average Shiraz… Well, I am sure that putting the price tags for “by glass positions” would’ve cleared the problem. I am sure that clearing couple of issues would make that place a local...
Read moreIt is a pleasant small restaurant in city's old center. Price wise it is on the higher side, but taste and service wise it is on the level. The menu is not extended, but what is available is quite delicious. We tried mini tacos, ceviche and rib eye steaks. Everything was delicious. The only concern was that steaks were not uniformly done. Medium well steak was well done on the sides and medium well in center, but I didn't ruin the meat. Restaurant offers good range of drinks and has a wide selection of wines. Hall size is not so big, but there is also second floor, which we haven't seen. Staff is very polite, professional and not...
