Luckee Yu — Restaurant in Almaty

While the interior of this restaurant feels hip and Hong Kong-esque, the food and service do not live up to these standards. Waiting for the meal, we witnessed other tables sending items back to the kitchen, causing us to worry from the start. We began our meal with a Thai iced tea, which was nothing more than milk with sugar. We found the beef noodles and cucumbers fine, but the beef dumplings were inedible - advertised with tofu and kimchi ingredients but were to be seen and the taste was bland. The meat looked questionable. We brought this to the attention of our waitress: she insisted that all the ingredients were included and refused to take back the dish and did not remove the item from our bill. The place is very good if you're lover of Asian cuisine. They offer wide variety of dishes, from buns to sushi. Also from Monday to Friday (12:00-16:00) there is a lunch menu.

The food itself is very tasty and staff is very helpful with advices for your preferance. We had prawn Bao, which was really tasty, especially Bao itself and fried eggplants with tomato, which was very good appetizer.

Place looks quite and cosy, great for a quick bite or seeing friends and sharing really good portions of asian food. Highly recommended in the centre of Almaty. You do not really need specially to the place, you can just go there after sightseeing...

This place is something new for Almaty, with an interesting menu and a fresh interior. I had tried tuna sashimi for the first time and liked it a little bit, but the kimchi rice was so salty, I couldn't eat it. The waiters were polite, but they had messed up with our order two times, and even one of them was convincing us that we had ordered what she brought to us.
