Ocean Basket Dostyk Plaza — Restaurant in Almaty

‏One of the best seafood restaurants I’ve tried in Almaty. The food was delicious, whether grilled, fried, or cooked in sauce. I really liked that they prepare it well without burning it, and there was no fishy smell at all. The food arrived hot, the plates and cutlery were clean, and they even provided gloves for eating shrimp and oysters.

‏The only thing I didn’t like is that they didn’t set the table properly with plates and cutlery in advance they just brought them and left them, which felt a bit unorganized.

‏I definitely recommend this place for seafood lovers, it’s a must try.

Came hoping for a taste of home (South Africa), instead got rude, arrogant treatment. I specifically ordered sole fish for its distinctive texture and taste. They brought me some other tasteless fish instead, which was clearly NOT sole, even by the texture. When I mentioned it to the waitress, she called the lead chef who was laughing at me and arguing me that it is sole (a different kind), even raising his voice at my wife who was translating for me. Had a meal there yesterday with my Family, was an absolute pleasure being there, the food was amazing!!! A bottle of white wine would have been perfect, back in South Africa they offer alcoholic beverages, maybe a good idea to have Ocean Basket in Almaty do the same? Absolutely love Ocean Basket.
