WARNING: If you’ve been considering trying cj’s or any of its branches, DON’T. There are numerous better restaurant options that won’t treat you like an afterthought. This is not just a case of one or two bad experiences, but a pattern of deceit, incompetence, and sheer disregard for paying customers. If you value your time, money, and dignity, stay far away from cj’s and its branches. A mark of horrible restaurant services are seen through lackluster customer service as portrayed by cj’s staff and management, for cj’s and its branches are textbook examples how NOT to run a business with integrity. The so-called supervisors, leaders, management staff, and workers of this cj’s chain are nothing more than dishonest, indifferent, prejudice, and utterly incapable individuals who seem to have built their careers on ignoring customer needs and openly mistreating clientele.

There is zero accountability when issues arise for cj’s management only know to hide from resolving poor services provided by their negligent staff. It’s pathetic how cj’s refuses to address complaints as customers who voice legitimate concerns are either gaslighted or flat-out ignored. Questionable business ethics with false charges, misleading promotions, and overcharging customers seem to be a standard practice of intentional deception to try squeeze hard-earned cash from paying customers. It is clear cj’s hires anyone with a pulse and no regard for customer service as highlighted by their very poorly trained and unprofessional workers. The cj’s workers from its call centre, delivery, customer service, and wait staff are consistently rude, inattentive, and unprofessional, making every visit at cj’s an exercise in enduring horrendous services. Expect to be ignored for long stretches by cj’s during online and physical orders while cj’s supervisors and workers chat rudely amongst themselves. Orders are frequently incorrect, and if you dare ask for a correction, prepare for eye rolls, sighs, or outright hostility. Cleanliness is an inside joke at cj’s with poor ventilation, dirty tables, and sticky floors, which are clear health hazards. It’s obvious cj’s chooses to offer terrible and disrespectful services, as if customers are an inconvenience rather than the very reason the business exists.

If you think a restaurant’s job is to provide honest customer service for the price they charge, think again about visiting cj’s and its branches who are keen to defraud customers at every turn. Prices on menus mysteriously don’t match what’s promoted, while portions have shrunk dramatically while prices have soared with cj’s adding fees that aren’t even worth the paper they are printed on, for cj’s rather provokes customers into needless arguments to get a fair and accurate bill. This is not just bad business, but it’s deliberate and calculated fraud against loyal customers who deserve far better. Take this warning seriously. A Cozy Culinary Escape Under the Rains

I recently popped into CJ’s CBD for an impromptu dinner date under the soft patter of Nairobi rain, and it turned out to be one of those unexpected gems that stay with you long after the evening ends.

From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with a warm and welcoming ambiance by Lorraine —a much-needed contrast to the chilly drizzle outside. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly - Lilian, ushering us to our table with cheerful energy and making us feel right at home. The service was impressively fast, yet nothing felt rushed. Every request was handled with grace and a smile - Valentine.

For dinner, I opted for the pepper beef steak, a hearty and flavourful choice. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium as requested—tender, juicy, and richly seasoned, with a peppery kick that warmed the soul. My partner went with the salmon curry paired with mashed potatoes, which was both inventive and comforting. The salmon was fresh and flaked beautifully, while the creamy mash helped balance the mildly spiced curry sauce. A delightful surprise of flavours!

For drinks, my partner enjoyed a blueberry milkshake, thick, creamy, and generously portioned, with real fruity notes shining through. I chose a lime and ginger drink, seeking some relief from a lingering cold. It turned out to be not just refreshing but also incredibly soothing—a perfect balance of zest and spice that cleared the senses.

What stood out most—beyond the great food and fast service—was the inviting atmosphere, especially on a rainy evening. There's something magical about watching raindrops race down the windows while being wrapped in the cozy hum of a lively yet relaxed dining space.

CJ’s CBD once again proved why it’s a favorite for both spontaneous dates and intentional dining. Whether you're seeking warmth from the rain, a hearty meal, or a tastefully served beverage, this place delivers. I’d gladly recommend it and look forward to returning soon—hopefully next time with some sunshine, though the rain made this visit...

I have loved Cafe Javas ever since I discovered them in Uganda. I was so happy when they opened this branch in Nairobi- their first branch here.

I love their decor! I am glad they kept the same spirit even in Kenya. The interior designs is much better than most cafes in Nairobi.

Their menu too is excellent. It is glossy, unique and eye catching. Not forgetting the beauty and uniqueness of their cutlery. Well branded it. Even the travel mugs they sell. I already have 2 of them.

Their food too does not disappoint. They have generous portions, I actually cannot remember ever finishing my food at any time. Their drinks too are so good. I never get enough of their coladas.

This branch is well placed. Only problem is that it can get filled sometimes so one has to wait outside. They have some sitting spaces outside though.

The best part is the charging booth they have. I first saw it at one of their Uganda branches and was surprised why we have no such in Kenya. I am yet to see one in any of the hotels and cafes in Kenya still. It is secure, thanks to the fingerprint OS so you can be sure your phone is safe.

Their staff is also very friendly and jovial. If you have a birthday celebration, be ready for some singing from them. It is quite entertaining.
