HUGE amenity filled resorts are a dime a dozen. BUT if you want a private home experience at Diani Beach with a full time staff included this is the place for you! Three retired couples were thrilled to relax in our lovely, well appointed 3 BR 3 Bath villa complete with private swimming pool post our 2 week African safari. Jacqueline answered my million questions patiently and always with quick response as I planned our visit. The villa is positioned in front of a building with hotel like rooms and it's own pool. We had the privacy of our house, patio, swimming pool and decking, spacious grounds and views to the beach. Charles, the general manager oversaw our stay with his staff of Chefs David and Anthony, room stewards and service staff - James, Jacqueline (not the same one I booked with), Edgar, Felix and Faith. We planned our meals with Chef David, they purchased everything (very reasonable), prepared and served every meal and pampered us our entire stay! Coffee was served early poolside followed by breakfast under the trees close to the beach, lunch and dinner also outside and one night a seafood extravaganza cooked and served grillside. There was an open air gym and tented spa facilities complete with the sound of the sea - FANTASTIC massages. Walks on the beach, a swim in the sea and a boat visit to the coral reef with snorkeling (arranged by Charles) completed our relaxing visit to Diani as we reminisced about our...
Read moreI've been looking for the words to describe my experience here. I've spent a week at the cottage (which is neglected, unclean and in desperate need of a facelift) and was upgraded to the main house for the rest of our stay due to all the complaints we had. This is the most stunning location we've been to on diani beach..with expansive grounds, beach access and a sunrise to write home about. The level of service is very poor, and standards of cleanliness shockingly low. Thankfully I travelled with my nanny, who assumed the role of kitchen staff aswell. Spring cleaning the cottage kitchen and clearing up after meals. Functions that were included in the package, but were poorly executed. I had the unfortunate previledge of spending time in the main kitchen yesterday, and what I saw made my skin crawl. It was filthy and inhabited by hoardes of cockroaches. I am so happy to be going home tomorrow. To think this place was once ranked alongside The Tribe, makes me sad. What a fall from grace. My most frustrating vacation ever! Chef Wafula is good, and so are the room stewards and therein lies my hope but it'll take more than a fresh coat of paint. With good leadership that prioritises best practice such as repair and maintenance and fumigation, invests in talent and not only meets the clients needs, but also anticipates their wants, then Mzima House has the potential of reclaiming its...
Read moreI absolutely loved Mzima Beach. I was a solo traveler at the end of 1) a business trip and then 2) a solo safari. I was looking to end the trip in relaxation. I stumbled across Mzima Beach in other reviews and absolutely lucked out. The facilities are stunning, it’s right on the beach, walking distance to great restaurants and most importantly—the staff was unbelievable. There was an issue with the room I initially checked into. The onsite manager—Charles—was an absolute legend. He upgraded me at no charge to an unbelievable room and was always extremely helpful and friendly, even working his contacts to get me reservations at the last minute. The other employees were so great as well. Young Charles was super friendly and gave me nightlife advice. James was an A+ chef (onsite chef will make you whatever and it’s always great!) and Felix the cleaner was extremely nice and professional. I also got a massage down by the beach in their facility and it was amazing. ||Bottom line: If you’re looking for a relaxing beach/nature experience, this is for you. Excellent location, excellent service, beautiful facilities. Still very...
