We had a fantastic lunch at Copper in The Social House. From the moment we sat down, they set the tone with warm bread and a tartare that was mind-blowing in taste, texture, and presentation, an absolute show-starter.
The grilled prawns with avocado were another highlight: perfectly cooked, bursting with flavor, and plated beautifully. My only complaint... there were only three.
For mains, my son ordered the steak, medium rare, and it arrived exactly as requested, juicy and flawless, paired with sweet-chilli potatoes. I went for the chicken pasta. While pleasant, it simply didn’t match the brilliance of the other dishes in either taste or presentation. My son made a valid point tho' that Copper is clearly a meat-lover’s paradise and I should have chosen accordingly, but if a dish is on a menu of this caliber, it deserves the same polish as the stars.
Drinks and desserts - he loved the La Paz mocktail while I kept it simple with sparkling water. We finished with a pineapple upside-down cake and a scoop of French vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was lovely; the cake, though nice, was a touch too firm, those dainty dessert forks and spoons didn’t stand a chance.
Service was outstanding. Dorothy, our server, was warm, stunning and attentive, and the chef personally checked in mid-meal, which was a classy touch.
Copper excels at meat and seafood, with exceptional service and presentation, and a chef who clearly cares about his food and the people...
Read moreCopper is a lovely little place inside The Social House. The place is very nicely set up with an open glass kitchen and a good ambiance.
We ordered a beef tenderloin steak and a bone-in rib eye steak. Both were delicious but they were both not cooked properly. The beef tenderloin was well done instead of the medium we requested and the rib eye was almost rare. We sent the steaks back and they redid them for us. They were better the second time around but the tenderloin was still a bit more cooked than what we wanted and some parts of the rib eye were still very rare. This was very disappointing considering the amount they charge for their steaks, I expected much much better from them.
They don't serve sides with the steaks so you have to order them separately and they go for 500 shillings a piece! We ordered the truffle fries which were just regular fries and a mashed potato gratin which was just mashed potato covered in cheese. They should just call dishes what they are instead of making them sound fancy and underdelivering.
The service was good, but very very slow. It took almost an hour for our food to come out but they gave us some bitings to keep us going as we waited for the food.
Overall, Copper is a nice place if you are looking to splurge but I expected much better from them considering how much they charge. Not getting a steak right twice is a bit shameful considering almost half of their...
Read moreThis was my first time at The Social House.
It was in a word, breathtaking. The ambience was warm, intimate and cozy. The service was exceptional.
Our waiter was an amazing young man called Mbugua and in 8 years of dining at the top restaurants all over the world I'm yet to meet someone like him. He was friendly, went above and beyond for us, and was a great ambassador for the restaurant. He is going to go places.
The food was divine. The chefs- both the main chefs and the pastry chefs were amazing.
Friendly staff, great ambience and great food. This is my new go to...
