Nestled in the vibrant heart of Lavington along the lush James Gichuru Road, a delightful new restaurant has emerged, inviting guests to experience its serene atmosphere surrounded by greenery. The “Crafty Chameleon Brewhouse” is a name that instantly captures attention, hinting at the unique offerings within, particularly its self-crafted beers.
As someone who appreciates a good meal, I found myself drawn to this spot. I ordered a sumptuous and juicy burger, bursting with flavor, paired with perfectly crispy fries that complemented it beautifully. The burger, in particular, was a delightful indulgence, as I often crave a satisfying junk food experience. What pleasantly surprised me were the remarkably fair prices for such quality food, making it an even more tempting destination.
While the brewhouse boasts a variety of expertly crafted beers, *try their golden Ale * I must admit that I am not typically a beer enthusiast. I gave the selection a fair shot but couldn’t quite finish even a single glass. Instead, I opted for a generous pour of rich red wine, which suited my palate much better.
The service at Crafty Chameleon was impressively swift—our orders arrived without delay, allowing us to dive into our meals promptly. The warm and welcoming staff enhanced the experience, especially as I celebrated my birthday. Their cheerful demeanor and genuine smiles added a delightful touch, often overlooked in many dining experiences. It’s essential to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the staff for their terrific service.
The washrooms were another highlight, boasting a clean and colorful ambiance adorned with vibrant artwork that adds a touch of charm to the space.
In conclusion, if you’re a beer lover searching for a mature, inviting place to unwind, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this magnificent restaurant. Enjoy your time at Crafty Chameleon Brewhouse—it's sure to be a...
Read moreActually 4.5 stars. I would give this 5 stars but like a lot of places in Nairobi it's definitely geared more towards couples and groups. If you roll in on a Friday or Saturday night by yourself, be prepared to wait until somebody and his date leaves the bar area or be content with standing or walking around with your beer in your hand. I also had plans to eat. So waiting was my only option.
Onto the experience. It's a German styled beer garden in Nairobi. Beautiful place. For beer nerds, you can sit near the brewery section and marvel at the copper brewing system. Everything made onsite. In the daytime, probably a great family dining option. Large open space for the kids to frolic. Definitely takes on more of an adult drinking spot at night. Which is a great thing.
The beers themselves. I did a tasting flight consisting of a stout, a lager, a blonde, a wheat and an IPA.
The stout and IPA were VERY good. Kinda surprised the hefe wasn't quite up to snuff.
Was really tempted to have one of those beautiful looking pizzas but I opted for my usual beer accompaniment... burger with fries.
Always pleased when the size of the burger and cost match up. The burger itself was good. Nothing fancy. No rocket leaves, aolli, grilled mushrooms. Just a nice thick properly cooked patty, onions, a COLD tomato, (that's a plus) with the condiments on the side. Simple but executed very well. First order of fries did come out a little lukewarm. Second batch was good and hot.
I sat at the bar so I can't really gauge the quality of the wait staff. The guy working the bar was on point.
The only downside is that things shut down around 10pm. It's in Lavington... home to Nairobi's faux/wannabe rich. So those folks want peace and quiet at night as they continue with the pretense.
Clearly if the place were in Westlands or along Ngong road between Ring and Hurlingham, you'd have later hours.
But I get it....

The atmosphere is nice and cozy, with a variety of seating options and a spacious outdoor area. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the service is fast and efficient.
The brewhouse offers a range of craft beers, cocktails, wines, and spirits, as well as non-alcoholic beverages. The drinks are well-made and reasonably priced, and you can also get some snacks and appetizers to go along with them. The pizza, however, is average at best, and not very satisfying. You might want to skip it and try something else from the menu.
The live music is one of the highlights of the brewhouse, featuring local bands and artists who perform different genres of music. The sound quality is good, and the music is not too loud or intrusive. You can enjoy the music while having a conversation with your friends or family, or just relax and listen.
Crafty Chameleon Brewhouse is a great place to hang out with your loved ones, have some fun, and unwind after a long day. It is open from 11 am to 11 pm every day, and you can make a reservation online or by phone. I would recommend it to anyone who likes live music and...
