Nestled in Nairobi's vibrant dining scene, Mam Mam brings the authentic flavors of Vietnam to East Africa. This cozy eatery offers a refreshing culinary experience that stands out in the city's diverse restaurant landscape.

The menu features Vietnamese classics executed with precision. The pho, Vietnam's iconic noodle soup, is a standout dish with its rich, aromatic broth and tender meat. Fresh spring rolls burst with crisp vegetables and herbs, perfectly complemented by a tangy dipping sauce.

Mam Mam's banh mi sandwiches are a delightful fusion of French and Vietnamese influences, featuring crispy baguettes filled with savory meats and pickled vegetables. For those seeking a heartier meal, the fragrant lemongrass chicken with steamed rice is both comforting and flavorful.

The restaurant's decor is simple yet charming, with touches of Vietnamese culture evident in the artwork and utensils. Service is friendly and efficient, though at peak times, patience may be required.

While some ingredients may not be as readily available in Nairobi as in Vietnam, Mam Mam does an admirable job of maintaining authenticity in its dishes. Prices are reasonable, making it an accessible option for those looking to explore Vietnamese cuisine.

In a city where African and Indian flavors dominate, Mam Mam offers a unique and enjoyable dining experience. It's a must-visit for anyone craving a taste of Southeast...

We tried a variety of dishes at the restaurant, including Pho, Iced Coffee, and Spring Rolls for starters. We also ordered some shrimp rolls to go. The Iced salt coffee was delicious, but unfortunately, the coconut coffee was a bit lacklustre. The Pho didn't have much flavour and tasted like diluted bone broth. There also seemed to be an imbalance in the amount of noodles and bean sprouts. The spring roll starter was decent, but my only issue was that the shrimp spring rolls takeaway didn't come with any sauce, so I had to make my dipping sauce.

One positive thing I noticed was that the owner seemed to prioritize the quality of the iced coffee. However, I wish the same level of attention was given to the food.

*Edit in response to owner comments I was genuinely going to let this go, but I am really worried about the fact that the broth is imported and then cooked again here with additional beef. What exactly did I eat? This might explain the flavour, but it's concerning that such practices are permitted especially to such a scale. If the beef or any other animal meat for that matter here is good enough to be added to the broth, then why not just make the broth here, considering that the operation is in this country? This raises concerns about potential hygiene risks during transit and storage, especially considering how quickly bacteria can develop...

The food is Amazing. The service is exact opposite. Seemed very chaotic. Only half our order was served. After reminding 3 people a part of the remaining order came which we then declined since we had already waited for too long. Too many wait staff around who all looked lost. . A lady - manager / owner , I think , was around the entire time , not sure for what since she seemed to be confusing the staff more than being helpful. We were told the restaurant been recently opened. With thst I would think she would want to meet all customers and take thr feedback. In such a small space like the patio how can you not observe & check on what is going on with the customers order. Another gentleman , who also seemed to the owner was more helpful. He also offered to put our food on the house , which we refused and paid for the order which was served. Whereas this lady after this grudgingly removed the items from the bill , which they had forgotten to serve , saying it was already prepared. Very poor customer handling and service. Once again the food which we did...

I originally came to Mam Mam in search of a good bowl of pho, and while the pho did not disappoint - at all!, it’s the coffee that stole my heart and keeps me coming back. If you’ve got a sweet tooth like me, the iced salted coffee is a must-try. It’s perfectly balanced, cold, creamy, and addictive. I also highly recommend the egg coffee, a delightful Vietnamese classic (yum!) and the cocktails, which are great. The menu reads like a storybook of Vietnamese flavors, offering comforting, authentic dishes that make every visit feel like a mini food adventure. The staff are warm, friendly, and always happy to offer recommendations, which makes the experience even better. What really sets Mam Mam apart is the vibe, whether you’re catching up with friends or need a chill rooftop spot to get some work done, it’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger. The open rooftop space is cozy, airy, and effortlessly inviting. Definitely one of my current favorite hidden gems in Westlands.

The service was great—the waitress who served us was really accommodating, and the outside seating is nice. The overall vibe of the restaurant is fantastic, and I love the idea of using plane tickets for reservations. The prices are on the expensive side, though. Now, for the food: Beef Stew Pho: It was delicious and aromatic, but I felt the stew (soup) was a bit too thick. I get that it’s a stew, so I guess it’s just a matter of personal preference. Classic Pho: This one was a bit bland for me. Egg Coffee: Exactly as strong as I expected—loved it. Flan: It was good, but a little clumpy. Overall, a solid experience, but a few things could be tweaked.

Mam mam has the best Vietnamese food and vibes in Nairobi. They have distinctively split the place to a rooftop bar for someone looking to have some fun and the restaurant for anyone looking for food in a chill place. The ambience for both the bar and the restaurant is so good, you overlook a green space within the city. On food we ordered pho… I had the classic pho and my date took the fried beef. I loved my choice, the classic pho is filling. The broth was phenomenal. There is no brisket or tribe … cause I think they probably won’t sell much. I hope they will add short ribs and rice to their menu soon. Such a lovely place.
