*Location *
Location can be great or terrible depending on where you are located in Diani. If you are already going to chandarana for some shopping, then it makes sense to stop by for a meal or drink.
Service
I found the service wanting. It was slow and unprofessional. I wish the server had asked for clarification for dishes that could be confusing like in our case, we ordered bolongnese and instead of the server telling us that there was an option for bolongnese spaghetti and bolongnese pizza, she just brought pizza while what we wanted was spaghetti. The buffalo wings were also quite chilly, wished they had told us that they were really chilly and asked if we still wanted to get them. Guiding and advising where necessary are part of the job I think. One dish also took forever to arrive and at no time did they come to assure us that the dish was on its way.
*Ambience *
There is both an indoor and outdoor seating area. It can get quite hot outside so it's good to have both options. The outdoor area is also a smoking zone which nobody bothered to mention. The indoor area is very colourful and I guess it is Cuban inspired.
Cost
The prices are definitely on the higher side. A meal and drink for one would cost you anywhere from KES1000-KES 1800 depending on what you are getting. Our bill was almost 7K and none of us felt that the food and service was worth that amount. None of us had any alcoholic drink either.
Menu
The menu is okay. Everyone can get something. They have very few none alcoholic beverage choices. I guess that does the name 'bar' justice.
Experience
We ordered a pepperoni pizza. If you are used to and enjoy the pizza inn kind of pizza then you will not enjoy their pizza. It is very thin and made from sour dough. The kids struggled. We also ordered the buffalo wings. They don't come with a side and they are chilly. I didn't mind the chilly, but other people did. We also got the grilled chicken with mushroom sause and a side of mashed potatoes as well as the fish fillet with rice. The rest of the meal was enjoyable. For drinks we ordered the lemonade and the pineapple and mint juice. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, no complaints there.
Final thoughts
If you are in the area you can stop by. If not, don't go out of your way. Prices in Diani tend to be high so...
Read moreI've been here many times the past years. This will most likely be my last visit. Everything has changed here as far as customer service. For the price you pay one would think you would be greeted with a smile at least. That is not the case anymore. All the servers appear to hate their jobs or hate being here at least. The bartender is the only person who appears to know what's on the menu. The food portion has gotten very small. Definitely the portion don't fit the price. Maybe there needs to be a major change in management and training for the employees. I ordered the seafood starter it was very salty and over cooked. My wife ordered chicken wings which were very small. No one bothered to check or ask if we needed anything else or how was everything, or how was the food. They never returned to our table once despite us wanting to order drinks. Finally , we gave up even trying to get someone's attention. Now I can clearly see why on a Friday night it was not crowded at all compared to former years. Disappointed and Highly...
Read moreThis is becoming my go-to spot in Diani, especially for Pizza. They actually have pork pepperoni (they refer to it as salami) that is similar to pizza in America, which I was DYING to find. (Food homesickness is real!) I've had it in restaurant, as well as carryout and it's always good. I've also had fish tacos-the taste was decent, (I think it's missing a sauce of some sort), but they were still tasty and the portion size was HUGE! I've also had the quesadillas, and they were quite tasty as well. Most of the food tastes similar to what I'm used to in America, which is rare in Diani. The ambiance is nice, both inside and out. There's Wifi! The staff have always been attentive and nice to me. There's even a pretty nice band on...
