Staff are not nice if you have an allergy. I have a gluten allergy and told the waitress about it and asked if there was any gluten in the salad I ordered. She said no and gave me a look as if I was being difficult for asking. i ate a bit of it and felt weird so I googled all the ingredients and it did have gluten so my partner had to eat it. I asked for the manager and nicely explained that it’s an allergy that should be taken seriously and their staff should check first if unsure. I didn’t get much from the manager at all and after that when we asked for the bill the same waitress (Alice) came over with a lot of attitude. She handed us the bill without even looking at us or coming up to the table so my partner had to reach for it. She was whispering with her other co-workers and wouldn’t respond to us when we were saying thank you, she just turned her back and ignored us. This made us extremely uncomfortable and is not a nice environment to be in. We tried really hard to mention the allergy issue as nicely as possible and even said we understand she didn’t know and we were not upset, plus we still paid for everything. However the rude treatment after the incident was not fair and we won’t be coming back. We got no apology or respect despite being nice about the issue!...
Read moreWe came here for breakfast on the day we were leaving beautiful Ukunda. The place came highly recommended by our hosts at Villa Raymond. The food took about 1 hour to come. Well, that's quite a long time to get breakfast ready. It didn't look like it was that busy as there were quite a number of empty tables around us. The food was very good, especially the pancakes, mushrooms and poached eggs. My 2 poached eggs were perfect. Tea could have been hotter. The amounts of the sides (mushrooms, fried onion and spinach) could have been more generous. They came in very small bowls, the type used for butter (see pictures). Even the toast comes in three tiny pieces. But looking at the price, I guess they were still good value for money. Albeit, I would suggest the staff explain the quantities at time of taking the orders. It would really help clients order the right amounts of food.
Staff were friendly and took the trouble to take a picture of us, very kind of them. For the 4 of us, the bill came to KES 2,300 which is quite fair. Only downside is quantity. As it was, I wasn't even full as I left the restaurant. Still would recommend this restaurant for their excellent breakfast but the tip is to ask for explanation of the quantities...
Read moreIt’s worth noting that this place feels more like a tourist trap than a genuine dining experience. I would not recommend it to those seeking value, quality, or respectful servicep. It’s a complete disappointment and an outright tourist trap. The food is absurdly overpriced for the tiny portions they serve barely enough to feed a toddler and the taste is downright terrible. You’d get far better value and quality at an actual high-end restaurant like Apero. To make matters worse, the staff are clearly untrained and struggle to communicate even the most basic English, which is unacceptable in a hospitality setting that targets international visitors. What’s even more disturbing is the blatant racism. The attitude toward non-white guests is cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. It’s clear they cater selectively, and it leaves a very bitter taste worse than the food. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s overpriced, overrated, and...
