I recently dined at Republique, an Asian cuisine restaurant with a French touch located in The Assima Mall. The overall experience was reasonably good. The food, while decent, had its highs and lows. The service was alright, and the atmosphere was truly amazing.
Here's a quick summary of the dishes I tried: Vietnamese fried nems: 5/10 Short Rib Bao: 8/10 Wasabi Prawns: 6/10 Orange chicken: 7/10 Black Pepper Beef: 7/10 Mango Sticky Rice: 8/10

The menu fonts were too small to read and the lighting was too dark to read the menu anyways. The star of the show was the pekin duck which failed miserably in terms of food temperature and taste which was gamey. I enjoyed the Wasabi prawns, the fried aubergine and the duck salad. The steak was average and came well done not medium well as I requested. The waiters struggled with plating the items on table due to its small size. A big salute for the excellent atmosphere and...
Read moreThe food is decidedly average if I’m honest. I went with a friend and we both got Tom Yum Soup and Green Thai curry. We both agreed that the Tom tum soup was too salty or had too much Tom yum paste. The curry was average as well, nothing special. I didn’t expect it to taste like authentic by any means but it wasn’t even close to Thai food I’ve had in the past. The service was fine but the tables are positioned a bit too close to other guests for my liking. It’s probably a consequence of being in a mall and being squeezed for space. I wouldn’t really visit this place again as there’s...
