I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ala Pagrabs in Riga, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience that left me completely satisfied. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with excellent service and an inviting atmosphere that set the stage for a memorable evening. One of the highlights of my visit was the outstanding service provided by the staff. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure that every aspect of my dining experience was perfect. The waiters were always ready to offer recommendations and answer any questions I had, further enhancing the overall enjoyment of my time at the restaurant. The atmosphere at Ala Pagrabs was warm and inviting. The rustic decor, combined with the lively ambiance, created a cozy and relaxed setting. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal with friends or family. Whether you're seeking a vibrant night out or a casual get-together, Ala Pagrabs has the ideal ambiance for any occasion. Now, let's talk about the food and drinks. The beer selection was impressive, with a wide variety of options to choose from. The beer was served perfectly chilled, ensuring a refreshing taste with each sip. The beer platter, in particular, was a delightful treat, allowing me to sample different flavors and styles. It was a true beer lover's paradise. When it came to the food, Ala Pagrabs truly exceeded my expectations. The pork hock and pork medallions were absolute delights. The pork hock was tender and flavorful, with a crispy skin that added a delightful crunch. The pork medallions were cooked to perfection, juicy and succulent. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness, leaving me craving for more. In conclusion, Ala Pagrabs in Riga is a gem that should not be missed. With its excellent service, great atmosphere, cold beer, and delectable dishes like the pork hock and pork medallions, it has truly earned its well-deserved five-star rating. Whether you're a local or a traveler exploring Riga, make sure to visit Ala Pagrabs for an unforgettable dining experience.

I have visited the ALA Folkklubs two times while my stay at Riga. The athmosphere was relaxing, the people in a good mood and with the music at the late evening I got a nice introduction to the Latvian culture, I guess. Thumbs up for everything. Some more details: The prices are more than fine. I payed for a 0,5l (honey) beer (really tasty) 3€. The food looked also tasty. My friend and I just had some small dished, like fried potatos, pancakes, stuff like that. I just can say, prices and quality have been great. The pub was always full when we arrived. If you want to make sure to get a seat, do a reservation. Just my luck, that my friend and I always arrived at the perfekt time and got a chair, even if it was at a table with other people. Most of the waitress was really nice. Some times you have to wait a little while until you can order.

Unpopular opinion, this restaurant is highly overrated. I found this restaurant by looking at the best restaurants in Riga. It had many great reviews, 5 stars everywhere, I had high hopes. To begin with, when we came to the restaurant, we had no idea what we were supposed to do. Nobody greeted us, nobody even had noticed us, I saw another couple just as lost as we were. And only when we asked the staff if we order here or sit down they said we can sit down… if there were no table service I would understand but now it just doesn’t make sense. The vibe in the restaurant was nice, people were having fun, the menu itself looked promising. We got soup of the day, battered chicken and slow cooked beef, and some kvass. Now, the service was really slow, really. We got the soup after a long wait and it was really tasty, however it was cold… I thought okay, maybe the soup was staying out for a bit, it’s fine. Then we waited like half an hour more for the main dishes. Meanwhile I got my kvass, beforehand, I asked if the kvass was homemade, the waiter said yes. I tasted it, it was definitely not homemade, I know my kvass and I’ve tried dozens of homemade kvass. Another disappointment. The main dishes came, they looked good and the portions were pretty big as well. My partner got the slow cooked beef, it was disgusting, it was not beef it was just pure fats, not tasty fats, but just pure fats, like eating slow cooked grease. Then there was also some bone marrow, the meat around the bone was already hard indicating that it was staying out for a while, and the bone marrow!? What the hell was that, it’s like they put fake bone marrow, it was like picking out grease and was so salty, real bone marrow is supposed to be like jelly! The overall dish was just a plate of unhealthy cholesterol. My battered chicken, on the other was not bad, although it was so bland, everything I ate tasted like just one thing, no flavour. Not to mention, both dishes, just like the soup, came cold, again! The restaurant wasn’t even busy so I didn’t understand why everything was cold! To conclude, I have no idea why we had such a bad experience, it was just horrible. Definitely would not recommend to eat here, maybe one can come here for the drinks, but other than that, definitely not for the food.

Unfortunately the visit in this restaurant wasn't the "best experience" in Riga. First of all I would like to point out, that the staff was quite mean. In almost every restaurant a waiter says "hello/hi" and is generally nice to the customer but here you won't find such staff. When I have asked one of the waitress "could you please tell me if there are any available tables" she replied "just look on your own" and added something not really nice in Russian... When it comes to food - it was so so. Even though I have ate all pork chop (wasn't really good) I didn't receive a free beer - a waitress told me that yes I should get it a beer for it (promotion) but she will give me it later. After 30 minutes (during that time I have asked her for it two times) I have resign and asked for the payment. If you like mean staff and poor food - you should visit this place! If not - do not come here under any circumstances!

Amazing basement restaurant and pub, located in the heart of Riga! Great atmosphere, even includes a fireplace and live music! The staff was really nice and service quick for how packed the place was. If you're able to plan ahead, you should look up for when they have live performances as well, really lifts the atmosphere throughout the entire locale! Ordered the 1kg pork hock (which could very well feed a family of 4) and the weekend special Foot-long Latvian style pork schnitzel, which included a challenge where you can get a free 0,5l beer if you manage to finish it. Needless to say, it was a struggle to finish both these dishes even as delicious as they were! Do recommend sharing the pork hock if you end up ordering it. The Classic honeybeer is also a must try for those who has never tried it before. Simply mouth-watering!

Really great local food in a cool place. The restaurant is in a huge basement with themes from Latvian Folklore (don't feel scared if you see symbols the look like swastikas, remember they are very old symbols). The music playing is also folkloric, and they have a lot of books. I had the Stroganoff, a dish I've tried many times before, and that was by far the best one (his grandma's recipe, according to the owner). It had three types of meat, mushrooms, caramelized carrots, and it was accompanied by mustard seed and potato puree and a few greens. The portion was huge. They didn't charge me for water, since they have even sparkling on tap, which is always nice. The place is popular with both tourists and locals because of the good food and honest prices.
