Me and two friends went out on our first night in Riga. We went to Rock Cafe and were having an OK time until we decided to ask for drinks. The place has multiple rooms, my friend asked for a beer and a cider at the bar in front of the foosball table (next to the poll players and the coat hanger). The bartender got her order wrong, different beer and sizes. She tried asking him about it, but he, very impatiently started hitting the card payment machine against the counter as a way to try to rush her into paying. My other friend asked him if there was any problem to which he answered "I don't have a problem, do you have one?" She answered that yes, we were being treated with unnecessary rudeness. He answered us saying "I'm the rudest Latvian of them all, just pay your order because there are people waiting". We gave up on the drinks because he was very rude and killed our mood. We went to the coat hanger to get our coats and he followed screaming "Are you leaving? I hope you're leaving otherwise I'm going to get someone to make you leave" making a big scene with no need at all because we were already on our way out. Such a shame his happened, Rock Cafe was recommended by locals and it's a pity it is not paying attention to the way it's workers are treating the customers. We went to Puce and also Folkklub after and were greatly treated...
Read moreI didn't want to be the person commenting about racism, but I have faced it personally here. To start off with, I was on a pub crawl with a bunch of friends from my hostel all from different backgrounds and this (Rock Cafe) was our final stop of the night. It was around 1 a.m and all of us stood in the line entering one by one. But when it was my turn, the security at the entrance denied me entry and just pushed me to the side. He accepted every one of my friends inside, all of us travelling as a group with the same bright pink band representing the pub crawl but the only difference, well I am ethnically Indian. But when I asked the bouncer the reason for not letting me inside while showing him my pub crawl band & European ID, he said that he doesn't have to tell why and pushed me again to the side and asked me to leave. I am baffled to see such things happen even to this date in 2025. Adding to this, during my trip to riga, I have never been denied entry to any other place or have met with any rudeness of this sort, it's a nice city with good people which makes this even worse. I understand it's a private property and what the owner says goes. But if it's not what's intended, I request the management to kindly look into this and maybe educate the security personnel to prevent such things from happening...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I recently visited Rock Café Pub in Riga, and it was an absolute blast! From the moment we walked in, the gritty rock ‘n’ roll vibe grabbed us—walls plastered with band posters, neon lights, and memorabilia from legends like Metallica and AC/DC. The atmosphere was electric, with a killer playlist of rock classics that had us air-guitaring between bites.
Service was top-notch. The staff were friendly, quick to seat us, and even recommended their signature cocktails. The bartender whipped up a mean "High Voltage Mojito" (a must-try!), and our server was patient as we debated the menu.
Food surprised us in the best way. We split the "Smoky BBQ Burger"—juicy, flavorful, and piled high with crispy onions—and the loaded nachos, which were perfect for sharing. Portions were generous, and the prices felt fair for the quality. They even had solid vegetarian options, which my veggie-loving girlfriend...
